After spending years in prison, Andy Hill is relieved to be starting a new life. On his first night as a hospital orderly, Andy is shown the ropes by the head nurse, Kate. She shows him the vegetable aisle' the coma ward and there Andy falls in love the moment he sees Grace, one of the patients. Kate tells him that Grace was a society girl who took a bad fall down a flight of stairs.
