Yellow Giraffe's Animal Stories
Yellow Giraffe's Animal Stories is an animated series for children. Each part tells about a different animal and includes a poem. Yellow Giraffe's Animal Stories is an independent sequel to the series The Sun is a Yellow Giraffe, which was completed in 1999. Both series are international and multi-cultural.
S01:E01 - The Old Water Rat
Mattie, the old water rattie, has a problem. A quarrelsome wants to take over his pond. But Mattie is cunning and finds a way to save his honour and his skin.
S01:E02 - The Sparrow
Against his will Erasmus the ram becomes the foster mother of an orphaned sparrow. He is annoyed because he is a loner who doesn't like company. But caring for the bird softens his heart and a grey nuisance becomes a golden songbird.
S01:E03 - Meeting
Ellen misses her dog. She is feeling miserable because there is no Button any more. One day on her way back from school she meets a deer who needs help. Ellen no longer feels lonely because she now has a friend waiting for her in the woods.
S01:E04 - The Cat and the Moon
A blacksmith loves and pampers his cat Minnaloushe but doesn't allow it to go out, because he worries for its safety. Then one night the cat runs away and the blacksmith understands at last why the cat has been so unhappy.
S01:E05 - Brother Sun, Sister Moon
The little wolf doesn't want to be a wolf. Everyone fears him and no one wants to play with him. He disguises himself as a wild pig and a sheep but is always found out. Brother Francis thinks that it is time for the little wolf to learn the ways of wolves and understand that everybody has their own unique place in the world.
S01:E06 - The Bear
The caged bear is big and frightening but Serafim understands that the heart beating in its breast is as small and frightened as his own. Serafim feels sorry for the bear and wants to help it.
S01:E07 - The Mammoth
Walter wants a mammoth of his very own. And believe it or not, his wish comes true. But life with a giant is not easy and soon Walter is ready to send his pet back to the lce Age. But the mammoth doesn't want to leave his pal.
S01:E08 - The Dog in Leghorn
A lonely dog in Leghorn harbour waits in vain for his master' s return. Once when the dog was out exploring his ship sailed away. Leonardo the dog finds a new home but never forgets his master because that is how strong a dog's loyalty is.
S01:E09 - Spring
The winter is so severe that even the polar bears are cold and hungry. When spring finally arrives, grandfather sets of to hunt in the fjord. There he meets a seal playing in the spring sunshine.
S01:E10 - The Panther
The gorilla and the panther are childhood friends, they both come from the same region. The panther is sad, he is missing home. The gorilla wants to help his friend in his hour of need.
S01:E11 - The Moon
Silver is worried about a canary. The sun is setting and his friend is not back. The donkey sets out to look for his friend. Luckily his instinct tells him the right way to go, or he might have lost his friend forever.
S01:E12 - The Astonishing Tapir
A tapir and a monkey quarrel over a wonderful stone they stumbled on walking in the jungle. They end up moping and feeling remorseful. Was such a trifle worth losing a friend for?
S01:E13 - The Tiger
The tiger is complaining to Noah that there are two of every species of animal in the ark except for the tiger. Noah decides to make him a spouse which turns out not to be such an easy task. Then the birds complain that there is an extra animal wandering around their department.
S01:E14 - Hedgehog
As soon as Nils the Hedgehog wakes up from his winter sleep he rushes to the post box to hear the latest news. Enviously, he listens to the others telling exciting tales about the past winter and talking about their adventures. Nils is the only one with no tales to tell - all he has done is sleep! He is annoyed with himself and decides to stay awake all of next year. Full of anticipation, he begins the wait for the winter - and the adventures!
S01:E15 - Seashell
Soledad lives in a small village on the shore of a great ocean. Every morning she wishes the ocean and all its creatures good morning. "The sea is Granny's only field," is what Granny always says when she and Soledad go fishing. Soledad hopes that the ocean will give them big fish. If they caught big fish, Soledad would get shiny shoes and Granny a new outboard engine for her boat. "But luck only turns when the whales sing," says Granny, and Granny can tell the future!
S01:E16 - The Unexpected Guest
Nina's cat, Sasha, bas befriended a stray cat that hangs about the yard. Where he comes from is anybody's guess. At the same time a huge eagle appears on the roof of the house opposite. One day, the stray disappears mysteriously. Other strange things happen: Sasha disappears, too. And then the eagle flies onto Nina's window ledge! Nina helps the eagle and in return he takes her to Sasha and the lost stray.
S01:E17 - Mother Doesnâ€™t Want a Dog
Everybody except Susie has a pet. She bas a problem, her mother does NOT like animals. But Susie loves all animals and absolutely must have a pet of her very own. She brings home candidates, each sweeter than the one before, but her mother doesn't like any of them and so they have to go. Because her mother clearly doesn't like small animals, Susie decides to try a slightly bigger one next time. She's not going to give up: the world is full of animals and one of them will be hers!
S01:E18 - The September Rabbit
One evening when Hopsy is dining as is his custom in the backyard of the 'Little Rabbit' restaurant, a country man happens to pass by. A trail of lovely smelIs floats after the man and makes Hopsy's head spin. He's just gat to follow them. The smelIs lead him to a small country village and a lush kitchen garden. Hopsy thinks he's arrived in a rabbits' heaven. Henry, however, who owns the garden, has bitter experience of rabbits.
S01:E19 - The Foal
János bas just moved to the country and is still learning the ways of country folk. As the neighbour's billy goal refuses to pull a cart, János heads for the village to buy a workhorse. At the market he sees Alma, a lame old back of a horse. She's in such a pitiful state that János just bas to buy her. He hasn't the heart to make her work. She does have a huge appetite, though, and keeps getting fatter and fatter.
S01:E20 - The Herd Boy's Song
Bin is off to spend summer in the country. He didn't want to go; the countryside is full of horrors, like animals and things. Bin is frightened of all animals, big or small, and refuses to spend one moment alone with them. But the farm animals are even more frightened of such a strange little boy and would like to send him back home. Grandfather is at his wit's end. He doesn't know what to do. Fortunately, Tao the buffalo bas a solution to the problem.
S01:E21 - The Elephants
The old elephant is too weary to join in the young elephants' fun and games. She prefers to spend her days leaning against a tree in the shade, dozing and dreaming and reliving her past. Once again she is with her childhood herd wandering through the desert to the long lost spring pastures.
S01:E22 - The Crow and the Nightingale
The nightingale is an admirer of Eizo the crow. In his opinion, the crow is the wisest, most wonderful bird in the world. Nowadays, however, Eizo isn't even aware of the nightingale's existence. He has eyes only for the peacock, whose magnificent train has him totally spellbound. Eizo wants to be the peacock's friend, whatever the price. He's even ready to abandon his old companion for the peacock.
S01:E23 - Mouse in the Supermarket
Bingo the Mouse has a hard life. He's not wanted anywhere. Everywhere he goes there are mousetraps and rat raison. Fortunately, Yellow Giraffe knows a kind-hearted shopkeeper who always has room for a homeless creature. The mouse settles down to live in Willem's supermarket and his future looks promising. There's trouble ahead though, because not everybody likes having a mouse among their shopping.
S01:E24 - The Corn Scratch Hen
One day the henhouse door was left open by mistake and Corn Scratch Kwa Kwa escaped. She'd heard of a place where hens run free and the rich soil abounds in plump warms. That's where she's heading! When the trunk of driftwood brushes against the riverbank near a small country henhouse, Cam Scratch jumps ashore full of hope. But the occupants of the henhouse are anything but friendly; they have no wish to have a stranger among them.
S01:E25 - The Kangaroo
Late one afternoon a mother kangaroo appears out of the long grass carrying her little one with her. She's tired and, looking worried, peers back in the direction from which she came. Something bas frightened her into flight. She hides her little one in a thicket where he'll be safe until she returns. Boobie, the young kangaroo, is huddling quite alone in his hiding place waiting. Evening comes, then night, but there's no sign of the mother kangaroo. In the morning Yellow Giraffe and Willy the shearer find the little one. Do-Do, the cockatoo, is sent to look for his mother.
S01:E26 - Song to the Freewheelings Pigs
The old sow Hula-Hula has seen a thing or two in her life. She knows only too well what it will mean when “Mr. Sausage and choice goodies” and van appear at the door of the piggery. It means that her services are no longer required on this farm. A sensible pig doesn’t wait for her fate. She puts her best trotter forward and runs towards a better future.
