Long Way Down

The departure has finally arrived and Ewan and Charley set off on the trip. Leaving Castle of Mey in Scotland the journey has begun. Even though they feel anxious of what is ahead of them it is a moment they have been gearing up to for the last 6 months. Riding through the highlands of Scotland, Ewan remises about his childhood. Reaching Robin House, one of the Children's Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS) centres, Ewan and Charley meet with staff, family and the children cared for at this foundation and get to see the work they do. Pushing on, the boys take in the sights of their well-loved countries as they cross the boarder into England. Whilst making their way down the country they stop at Silverstone Race Track and set up camp on the track. When morning arrives they do a quick lap before heading off again. Continuing their adventure across the English Channel Ewan and Charley feel the real journey is just about to begin. Riding through France they clash with the bad weather and have to face the wind and rain on top of long riding days. Into Italy, and they visit the Motor Guzzi Factory, the make of Ewan's first bike. Ewan is touched by the affection and love in this beautiful country. Stopping to camp they make friends with a Swiss biking couple, who they exchange stories with. Reaching Siena they come across a classic car festival, the boys are in their element! Enjoying the trip so far, they are excited about entering Africa and seeing what new adventures it will bring.
