Inspired by and based on true events, The Aviators tells the heroic tale of a group of carrier pigeons that assisted the U.S. forces in World War I by carrying secret messages between troops in battle. Cher Ami, the titular pigeon of this film, is currently on display at the Smithsonian and was awarded the Croix de Medal for his heroic service in delivering a message from troops under fire despite being shot and suffering a broken leg. This gallant story is the focus of the film. The Aviators takes viewers on a fun and exciting adventure as the birds learn to be carriers and, with the help of neurotic mouse and inventor Lindberg, take on the enemy and save the day.
