Disgruntled with her life, Michelle drunkenly agrees to marry her long-time admirer, Hubbell, and subsequently moves with him to his sleepy hometown of Paradise. Just as things start to look promising, as Michelle makes peace with her new mother-in-law and begins to feel that she could grow to love her new husband, Hubbell is killed in a car accident.
