During the Cold War the CIA recruited high-ranking Nazis and Italian Fascists as agents for their operations – against leftists and Communists across the globe. The agency infiltrated the top echelons of the German government; it organized torture, death squads and the intelligence services of right-wing juntas in South America; it wielded its influence on attempted coups in Italy. Nazi treasures – allegedly lost in World War Two – were used to finance these operations. For the first time, the film unveils how ruthlessly the CIA instrumentalized the war criminals of the Third Reich for its purposes.
