When Tara overhears Phil tell Ben marriage is "like a coffin", she dares him to propose. Knowing that shell say no, Phil does exactly that -- only to be surprised with a "yes". The answer forces Phil to re-examine his relationship -- what exactly does Tara want? But when Phil finds out Tara is only testing him and plans to say "no" at the civil service, he switches gears. Forearmed, he teams with Ben to up the romance in the hopes that hell gain a few relationship brownie points. Alas, the gesture works too well -- uniting the Hills in marriage for real.
