It's been almost a year since Tom and Jessie got hitched, and their First Anniversary looms. While Tom is plunged into an angst-ridden journey for the perfect paper gift, Jessie quickly settles on hers: she's having their marriage certificate, the one filed at City Hall, framed. Except when she arrives to pick it up, she is horrified to discover its invalid. Seems Jessie forgot to pay the deposit, putting their union in legal limbo. Fixing the snafu costs money she doesnt have, unless she sells off her prized design books, or somehow hits up Tom. But thats not a good idea, because Toms busy selling his prized knife set to get Jessie her present, a first edition book from her childhood. In an escalating series of mishaps involving forged documents, cops, and gay massage parlour raids, Tom and Jessie learn the hard way that their love is priceless.
