Sydney Carpenter felt fulfilled as a devoted housewife to her husband Matthew and their son Adam until both tragically die in a boat accident. Shortly after, Sydney learns that her husband is a low-down, full-on crook with ties to menacing organized crime leaders. Though she sincerely grieves for her son, there's an apparent air of relief surrounding Sydney whenever she discusses her hubby. When evidence surfaces suggesting that the deaths had been faked, and at least one of the two 'victims' has survived, Sydney enlists the services of Detective Jim Sanders in order to uncover the truth... despite the fact that FBI Special Agent Kyle Lassiter insists Sanders and his department steer clear of the case.
