Paige and Jack receive a devastating blow when they arrive at the apartment where Gabe was being held, only to find he’s no longer there. Everyone pins their hope on the theory that Louise was working with an accomplice – someone who must now be looking after Gabe. However, when Mishti confronts Louise in the interview room, the kidnapper is as shocked as them all to hear Gabe wasn’t in the flat, and denies having an accomplice. As the terrifying truth hits Paige, she vents her rage at Louise – but Louise knows nothing. Paige breaks down. Jack and Mark are in their own dark places and the three find themselves waiting in a state of despair when a baby’s cry is heard... It’s Gabe, left on the doorstep. Despite the good outcome, Paige still holds residual anger towards Jack over him calling the cops. He challenges her and together they agree to work as a team from now on. They apologize and come together in their shared relief over his return. As Paige worries over the croup that could have turned serious, it’s Jack who pulls her back from the edge by forcing her to see he’s safe and healthy.
