When Elly detects friction between Mark and Jack, she convinces Amy to let the boys join them for croquet so she can match-make them into being mates. The girls manage to convince them to join in, despite both being quite reluctant. The game gets off to a competitive start before Jack becomes irritated by what he perceives to be Mark and Elly flirting. When Mark and Elly win the game and spout good-natured sledges, Jack snaps. He can’t believe they won considering their attention was rarely on the game. Mark cuts to the chase, insisting Jack admit he has a problem with him being in Gabe’s life. Backed into a corner, Jack concedes as much and asserts that Gabe wouldn’t have been taken if it weren’t for Mark and his brothers. Mark rallies; Jack called the cops and almost lost Gabe forever. What kind of a father does that? Jack punches Mark and the men scuffle until Amy and Elly intervene. Riled and breathless, Jack and Mark’s true feelings have been unveiled.
