A Gift From Bob Trailer
At a swish, publishing Christmas party in a London ball-room. Sparkly dresses. Champagne glasses clinking. A festive buzz. All eyes are on JAMES BOWEN (Luke Treadaway), a homeless busker turned best-selling author, and - in particular - his handsome, ginger cat BOB (Himself).
As the party wears on, BOB grows bored and restless while JAMES struggles to make small talk. He’s fretting over the looming deadline for a new book about the pair’s old life on the streets of London. He can’t find the right story to tell. As they slip away from the party they meet a famous author. She gives JAMES good advice. He won’t find inspiration for his new book here. She looks out on to the snowy streets. It’s out there.
With its Christmas lights blazing, London looks a pic-ture. At their old stamping ground in Covent Garden, JAMES and BOB walk through crowds of families and foreign tour-ists who all want to stroke BOB or take selfies with them. But the mood soon darkens.
JAMES and BOB, come across a heated argument. A young busker and rough sleeper, BEN, is pinned to a wall, sur-rounded by police and other officials. JAMES intervenes. He uses his hard-won experience dodging the busking laws to get BEN released.
JAMES buys BEN his first warm meal in weeks. BEN seems desperate He is trying to straighten his life out, but feels abandoned and alone. BEN is the ghost of JAMES’S Christmases past. JAMES tells him that he once felt as he did. And not that long ago. There are good people out there. Small miracles can happen.
We are taken back in time to the story of James’ last Christmas on the streets with BOB. How Bob helped him through one of his toughest times - providing strength, friendship and inspiration but also teaching him im-portant lessons about the true meaning of Christmas along the way.
