Small-time crook Ronald 'Budgie' Bird is released from prison and determined to get back to business. He plans to hijack a lorry-load of cosmetics but discovers something else entirely.

Budgie is asked to join a gang of criminals to rob a bank, but the police already know about the heist.

Budgie's sister, Vi, is getting married...as long as Budgie can persuade the groom to come to the church.

Budgie is drawn into the world of show business.

It's Charlie Endell's birthday, and Budgie gives him a present.
