S01:E01 - A Dog's Life
Sparkplug is a gentle Dalmatian who is secretly dropped at The North Shore Animal League at the crack of dawn. But Sparkplug’s fate – to live or die – is undetermined. Many stray dogs abandoned on the League’s doorstep must be transferred to the local town pound where they are often killed. The staff at the League tries to find a way to get Sparkplug back to their shelter, where her life would be saved.
S01:E02 - A Dog's Life
Debbie, recently evicted from her apartment, hopes The North Shore Animal League will help her beloved pet Shorty find a new home. And Bailey has a serious case of pneumonia. While her owner waits and worries at home, Bailey sits in one of the League’s oxygen tents, fighting for every breath.
S01:E03 - A Dog's Life
The North Shore Animal League’s Director of Operations, Paul Greene and dog trainer Mike Malloy head south to Florida, where they get ready to save adoptable dogs left homeless after hurricanes. And Sparkplug must be admitted to the medical unit to treat pneumonia. Plans for her adoption must be postponed again, possibly for months.

Three-legged dog Trevor, left homeless after Florida’s latest fierce hurricane, is prepped by the League’s devoted staff for an upcoming adoption event, while the Chief of Public Relations at The North Shore Animal League aims to raise record-breaking funds for the League’s upcoming 60th anniversary celebration.
S01:E05 - A Dog's Life
Charley, crippled by Parvo, may never walk again. Charley’s nurse uses everything she can to get him back to his family, including play therapy, exercise, and a souped-up walker. And Aubrey and Kim have to decide if Nyssa, whose owner has had to choose between giving up Nyssa and her older dog, is well behaved enough for a temporary home at the League.
S01:E06 - A Dog's Life
The North Shore Animal League must tame and groom Shooter, a wild dog discovered in a junkyard in the Bronx, so that he may graduate from junkyard dog to family pet. And across the city in Queen’s senior citizen Joan, mourning the loss of her beloved poodle, adopts Dudley through the North Shore Animal League’s matchmaking program for senior citizens and senior dogs.
S01:E07 - A Dog's Life
An emaciated and sick dog named Shy must regain her strength and her spirit to cope with an upcoming PR campaign to get her – and her five pups - adopted. And At the League’s Adoption Return department, we meet a pup named Lucy, who is being dispossessed by her young owner, and Harley, who was adopted from the North Shore as a pup.
S01:E08 - A Dog's Life
The future of eight puppies and their stray mother found on the streets of New York City depends on The North Shore Animal league staff, who must decide if the strays are adoptable.
S01:E09 - A Dog's Life
Sadie will need therapy to get over the trauma she suffered at the hands of an abusive owner. The North Shore Animal League staff work diligently to restore Sadie’s trust in humans, so that a more loving family can adopt her.
S01:E10 - A Dog's Life
The North Shore Animal League team work to save Cuddles, a scruffy terrier mix who was hit by a car and can no longer walk, and Heather, a dog with a behaviour problem. But the staff can’t guarantee miracles for either of them.
S01:E11 - A Dog's Life
A neglected dog – dumped in a dismal looking cage on the doorstep of The North Shore Animal League - must learn to trust and socialize with humans before she can be considered for adoption. And At the League’s public relations department, Marge Stein has her hands full planning a fundraising lunch.
S01:E12 - A Dog's Life
Isabelle Hamel, a North Shore Animal League trainer, teaches Cujo and his sixteen year-old owner a new set of behaviour tricks. But if Kevin and Cujo don’t take the training seriously, they may end up separated permanently.
S01:E13 - A Dog's Life
At The North Shore Animal League the cages are full, and a snowstorm may keep potential adopters away. Crowded cages also put extra pressure on the staff, who need to work extra hours to care for all the animals.
