Galaxy Express 999

On the road to Megalopolis, Tetsuro is encountered by Count Mecha and watches as his mother is killed. Ironically, he is rescued by a woman who looks remarkably like his mother, and they set off on a journey on the Galaxy Express 999. He begins his trek towards the planet where he'll be able to receive a mechanical body.

Tetsuro takes a tour of Mars but a desperate man decides to shoot Tetsuro and steal his 999 pass.

Tetsuro is rescued from a ghost by Claire, a waitress they met. But in doing so, Claire is blasted into a million pieces. After finally arriving on Titan, one of Saturn's satellites, they go outside and Maetel is abducted. When Tetsuro goes to rescue her, oddly, he is given a gun by an old woman...

Antares hijacks the 999 and invites Maetel and Tetsuro into his home.

On Pluto, Tetsuro is greeted by the graveyard's caretaker; Shadow transforms into Tetsuro's mother.

When a beetle gravely injures Maetel, Tetsuro attempts to find help but is met with violence.

A woman living inside a mud pit abducts Tetsuro and forces him to become her companion.

The gang is captured by the alcoholic ruler of Jungle Planet; Maetel is forced to drink.

Ghosts invade the 999 and kidnap Tetsuro to use him as a vessel for a ghost child in need of a body.

After finding out that his former lover is dead, Tetsugoro plants a bomb in the castle.

As they approach the Face of Memories, a woman passenger causes a commotion and the 999 derails.

Tetsuro's pass is stolen; Tetsuro believes the thief is Kira.
