It’s the night of the Gala and it’s a great success with our people all dressing up. Louise awakens from her coma and lets slip to Karl and Fay that she was involved romantically with Hamish and did something to Russell. Fay calls Mark to the hospital but by the time he gets there Louise has gone. Mark investigates further and discovers CCTV footage that shows Louise and Hamish were at the Port Lincoln hospital the night of Russell’s death. Mark is convinced Hamish was responsible... Sheila gives Mark the credit card she found in her yard and explains she has discovered it was used to pay for Hamish’s purchases at The Waterhole. Mark tells her Hamish was likely two-timing her with Louise. Later that night Gary gets an urgent call from a distressed Sheila. In Paris, Aaron finally tracks down the mystery woman, Elissa. She’s an ex-lover of Hamish who he ripped off. She says Hamish is in debt to the tax office and may be planning on going on the run. Aaron calls Tyler. Tyler prepares to leave with Hamish on the following day. Hamish plans on telling Sheila he’s changed his mind about her going with them, but wants to break it to her gently. Tyler discovers that Hamish has got a ticket driving the garage’s van the night before Amy was injured, piquing his suspicion, which is only roused further when Aaron calls from Paris. Tyler then finds Hamish’s briefcase mysteriously left on his doorstep. He goes through it and finds a bill from the tax office, Russell’s original will, Russell’s old phone, and an Ace of Spades from Russell’s lucky deck. He confronts Hamish with these things in the Canning backyard and Hamish eventually confesses all – it has been his goal all along to get his hands on the boat, but now he also wants Tyler to come away with him. Tyler is furious as he storms off.

It’s the following morning and Hamish is still in the spa – dead... which is where Steph finds him. Raising the alarm, news begins to spread through Erinsborough. It starts with Mark. His overwhelming thought is for Tyler and he immediately plunges out to find him. As they connect, it’s Mark’s delicate job to inform his brother of Hamish’s death, completely unaware that Tyler himself has very complicated feelings. Not to mention the fact that he’s not telling Mark the whole truth. However, as they begin to talk, they are able to fill in some blanks for each other, drawing a fuller picture of Hamish’s deception, knowledge that sees Tyler deeply dispirited. He is also apologetic, but Mark assures him it’s not necessary. All that matters now is that they discover the whole truth, which means finding Louise. Tyler goes to the marina, only to discover that the boat is gone. Meanwhile, crossing with Sheila and Amy, Steph can’t help noting that they’re both acting a little oddly at the moment. And finally, everyone is under the microscope as Hamish’s death is ruled suspicious. Mark is pulled in by the police for questioning. Many people harbored ill feelings towards Hamish – is one of them a killer?

But on discovering the contents of Hamish’s briefcase, Bill turns his questioning onto Tyler and discovers that Tyler was allegedly the last person to see Hamish alive.

S33:E06 - Season 33, Episode 6
Aaron arrives home eager to support his brothers, but he’s left feeling increasingly uneasy by Mark and Tyler’s behavior. Aaron questions Fay, wondering if there’s any chance his siblings might be hiding something regarding Hamish’s death, but Fay is adamant they’ve done nothing wrong. Mark discovers the results from the autopsy on Hamish have come back as inconclusive; it can’t be determined if Hamish died from being hit on the head, or if he drowned in the spa. Tyler’s agitation grows and he admits he’s been keeping something to himself about what happened on the night Hamish died. While Tyler told the police he and Hamish had a fight, he didn’t tell them the full story... And that is, that he hit Hamish over the head with a garden gnome. Aaron and Mark are both rattled by the admission as Tyler admits he can’t stop feeling guilty, even though Hamish was fully conscious when he left... Mark reassures his brother; in that case, Tyler’s not responsible. But Tyler’s feelings of guilt remain. Mark announces he’s going to head to Port Lincoln and he wants Tyler to come with them. Tyler doesn’t want to leave Piper, however, so Mark warns him to keep his cool... The last thing they need right now is for the police to direct their focus onto the Brennan family and take it off finding Louise.
S33:E07 - Season 33, Episode 7
Word quickly spreads that Amy’s been taken in for questioning and the ripple effects are felt throughout the neighborhood. Sheila is horrified at the thought of Amy taking the fall for something she didn’t do and gives Gary a clear warning––if there’s a whiff of Amy going down for Hamish’s murder, Sheila will head straight to the cops to tell them the truth. Aaron is also rattled at the thought of an innocent person being blamed. He suspects his brothers know more than they’re letting on, a suspicion that’s only underscored when David opines on the unlikelihood of Amy being responsible – whoever killed Hamish had to have a streak of violence in them. Meanwhile, in the interview room, Amy is feeling confident until the detective questions her over the fingerprints she left on Hamish’s wallet. Thankfully, she has a solid alibi for the night in question. The only issue is that alibi isn’t her mum, which is what she told Steph. And she realizes it’s now time to face the music and tell Steph the truth. The person she was with that night was the anonymous donor: Lyn, Steph’s mum.

S33:E09 - Season 33, Episode 9
Mishti is convinced something is amiss with Gary and Sheila’s story about where they were on the night of Hamish’s death, given that the Lassiters reception history lists them as checking in at the exact time she saw Gary at the fireworks, and on the phone to a distressed Sheila. They’re involved in Hamish’s death somehow, she’s sure. Directly, or indirectly... Dipi is strongly dismissive of this assertion; Sheila and Gary are their friends. And Leo is unhappy with Mishti for not wiping the check in information from the USB like he thought she was going to. He’s also not convinced she’s going to stop investigating now she’s got her teeth in. And he’s right. After deliberation, Mishti phones in an anonymous tip off about Gary and Sheila to the police. Meanwhile, Leo gives Paul a heads – up about Mishti’s concerns. Innocent of Paul’s involvement in incorrectly logging Gary and Sheila’s check - in time in the first place, he enables Paul the chance to change Gary and Sheila’s check – in to an earlier time. Gary finds it hard to be grateful given the high price Paul exacted from him for the favor in the first place, but Sheila is. Mishti, however, is profoundly confused when she overhears Sheila and Gary telling Xanthe that they’re in the clear. Despite Dipi’s certainty to the contrary, Mishti knows the information she provided to the police wasn’t wrong.

While trawling the bush, Mark laments he feels terrible about distancing himself from Paige and Gabe, but he’s not a good role model for the kid right now. Tyler rubbishes that, urging him to hang on to them for all they’re worth, especially while he’s going through such a trying time. Meanwhile, Paige expresses her concern about Mark’s behavior to Jack, who admits he shares it and asks point blank if she thinks Mark’s involved in Hamish’s death. Back in the bush, Tyler is becoming frustrated by their lack of progress and when Aaron calls to inform them the police have finally found their boat - on the other side of the bay and sans Louise – it’s Mark who is almost overcome by despair. Having been privately challenged by Aaron to live up to Paige’s leap of faith, Mark drops his guard with Jack, apologizing for compromising Paige and Gabe and assuring him they’re his number one priority. Less than convinced, Jack stoically accepts this – for now. Later, Mark is there to see Gabe perform a milestone moment. Eager to be inclusive, he catches it on camera – a gesture both pleasing and guilt - inducing for Paige. Trying to head off the potential for disappointment so early in their new understanding, Paige takes Gabe to Jack to have him repeat his new trick in person, but they’re interrupted by a notification that Mark has posted the video online.
