A stunning voyage of food, culture and friendship along the alluring coastlines of Italy Greece, Turkey and France - these are the tales of the classic yacht Barinia and her family of 25 years - Narelle, the chef, and Patrick, the skipper. Jump on aboard for this journey where we visit their friends and celebrate the food and culture born of a deep connection between the land, the sea, and the people. This love affair with Mediterranean life, invites the viewer to experience the real life of the locals and their determination to preserve their precious traditions.
Season 1
S01:E01 - Chiogga
In this first episode, you will find Narelle and Patrick in the small fishing town of Chioggia, preparing the yacht for its voyage. Located at the southern end of the Venice Lagoon, you'll be shown around this lovely town and be introduced to some of the colourful people they have come to know here over the years.
Patrick and Narelle will visit the local commercial fish auction to meet up with a buyer who selects produce for one of the town's finest restaurants called El Gato. Narelle is then invited back to join the chefs in the kitchen to watch how they prepare some local specialities.
S01:E02 - Venice
When arriving in Venice, Narelle visits an old friend who is the head chef at the hotel Cipriani in Casanova's gardens. Renato invites Narelle to join him in his kitchen and you will learn how to cook some of his favourite venetian dishes.
S01:E03 - Kekova
In this episode Patrick and Narelle will sail to southern Turkey and visit the picturesque village of Kalekoy in the Kekova area.
S01:E05 - Symi, Santorini, Corinth
In this episode, Patrick and Narelle sail into the beautiful amphitheatrical harbour of Symi at sunrise. It is one of the dodecanese Islands in the Aegean. This harbour displays its distinctive neo classical architecture, very specific to this particular corner of the Aegean. While Narelle prepares the local delicacy of Symi shrimps, she shares special memories.
S01:E06 - Corinth, Amalfi, Liguria
In this episode, Narelle and Patrick sail through the Corinth canal and into the Gulf of Corinth, where they will be literally escorted into Delphi by Delphini (Dolphins). Here they will take you to an 'yachtie' hideaway for a magnificent breakfast with Chrissoula, at the hotel Ganimede. After ouzo and a game of backgammon, they will continue sailing toward Italy and as a tribute to Greece, Narelle will prepare a Moussaka in the galley.
S01:E07 - Portofino
Narelle and Patrick will sail into beautiful harbour of Portofino, to meet some local friends and discover how to make more ligurian specialities. You visit the legendary Hotel Splendido to be treated to a lesson from the hotel's maitre de cuisine - Chef Corrado. He shows Narelle the correct way to make pesto and celebrate the local ingredients. Patrick also visits Ermes, the manager of the Splendido to peruse their libro d'oro, a fascinating record of the hotel's rich history.
S01:E08 - French Riviera
In this final episode, Narelle and Patrick will visit a local miniature market-square, la place aux herbes in the village of St Tropez. They chat to Armel, a wine merchant about locally grown wine. You'll visit the famous Senequier, where Rui and Maurice make nougat from a secret recipe that dates back to 1887. You will also visit a gorgeous little fromagerie which highlights the individual touch. You will then sail around to Pamplonne beach and the iconic Le Club 55. The skipper chats to Patrice about its rich history and how his father first discovered Pamplonne beach. Patrick and Narelle will sail back to its home port in Antibes. Narelle shares her recipe for moules mariniere's and prepares it in the galley a local staple. After that we'll take you to La Colombe d'Or in the medieval village of St Paul de Vence a mecca for art from such artists as Picasso, Matisse, Miro, L ger all traded their art for simple Provencale Hors d'Oeuvres.
