Storm in a Cocoon
Follow the intricate relationships inside a silk factory, between family, friends, and workers, as they attempt to solve a suspicious suicide.
S01:E01 - Storm in a Cocoon
The military doctor of the government troops, POON KA-YEUNG, serves the army with the purpose of saving the country and people, but, standing on the battleground, he cannot help thinking of his family members in his hometown. KA-YEUNG's father POON WING-NIN is the boss of Wing Tai Lung Silk Factory. Because his elder son KA-HIN is not vigilant enough in dealing things, the responsibility of being the in-charge falls on his second child and elder daughter HAU-YEE. As Lui Cho Birthday is around the corner, WING-NIN knows that Wing Tai Lung cannot afford even the smallest mistake in holding the celebration ceremony. When checking the offering, HAU-YEE notices there are knots in the sky silk so she holds worker YIN-FOON accountable for it. Although supervisor SIN PIK-WAN suggests producing new sky silk overnight to make up, HAU-YEE asks another worker TONG BING-BING to be in charge of it. BING-BING thinks that HAU-YEE is purposely against PIK-WAN, so HAU-YEE reveals the reason to her. On the day of Lui Cho Birthday, the fourth child of the POON family, POON KA-SING is too lazy to get up early. In view of this, WING-NIN scolds him, saying that he overindulges in Cantonese Operas, and is good-for-nothing, Wing Tai Lung's second boss, POON WING-CHEUNG, rushes back to his hometown in time for the celebration. WING-NIN's wife CHAN YUEN-KAM misses her third child and second son KA-YEUNG so much that she asks WING-CHEUNG for the information about KA-YEUNG. At the ceremony, YUEN-KAM feels unwell so HAU-YEE dots the silk dragon's eye on behalf of her mother, which makes KA-HIN's wife YEUNG YIM-TO very jealous. After the silk dragon dance performed by the worker girls, the section of grabbing firecracker begins and all five big silk merchants go head-to-head to fight for it. Due to KA-YEUNG's sudden appearance, Wing Tai Lung is able to turn the tide before its defeat and successfully snatches away the firecracker.
S01:E02 - Storm in a Cocoon
In the still of the night, KA-HIN goes to look for HAU-YEE as she fails to meet the appointment with a client on time. However, in a cottage, BING-BING discovers HAU-YEE's dead body holding in her hand tightly the divorce letter written by her run-away husband PO-CHING. It turns out that KA-HIN located PO-CHING in Guangzhou early and accused him of embezzling the company money. PO-CHING not only refused to return home, but also handed him the divorce letter. KA-HIN makes it clear that he never thought of that HAU-YEE would commit suicide by swallowing opium, whereas KA-YEUNG says that he had exchanged letters with HAU-YEE, who didn't mention her marriage problems at all. HUNG CHOR-KAU, a handyman of Wing Tai Lung, who doesn't believe that HAU-YEE committed suicide questions TONG TSIN-KAN about that, so WING-CHEUNG gives TSIN-KAN, BING-BING and her brother, and CHOR-KAU some money, telling them to give a witness statement to the others that HAU-YEE died of a sudden illness. WING-CHEUNG also gives a hint to KWOK-LEUNG, claiming that it's a good timing for them to take over the reins as the silk factory has a tumultuous time following the sudden death of HAU-YEE. Bursting into tears in front of his husband KA-HIN, YIM-TO indicates that WING-CHEUNG casts a covetous eye on the position in-charge, telling her husband to also seize the opportunity. On the other hand, KA-YEUNG gets suspicious of HAU-YEE's death.
S01:E03 - Storm in a Cocoon
After telling KA-YEUNG that the late HAU-YEE mentioned of her husband's misconducts, BING-BING intends to report it to the police, but is stopped by KA-YEUNG as anyone near HAU-YEE might be the suspect. KA-YEUNG then learns from CHOR-KAU that CHENG CHEONG once cursed HAU-YEE in front of her as they were business rivalries, and silk farms often had price disputes with HAU-YEE. Moreover, PIK-WAN constantly argued with HAU-YEE. On top of that, CHOR-KAU even points out that both WING-CHEUNG and KWOK-LEUNG are very malevolent. Having found out that PIK-WAN meets up with CHENG CHEONG, BING-BING suspects that CHENG CHEONG has bribed PIK-WAN. Out of the blue, PO-CHING appears at HAU-YEE's funeral, revealing that HAU-YEE used dirty tactics to do business. BING-BING alleges PO-CHING is the murder suspect as he had already returned to POON's Village the night HAU-YEE died. So KA-YEUNG tries to sound PO-CHING out, and also carries out a body check-up for him. BING-BING takes out a dose of Chinese medicine which is used to cure angina, and she claims that it has the same scent as those she smelled from PO-CHING. Having smelled all the medicinal herbs from the dose, KA-YEUNG instructs BING-BING to buy all the perilla leaves from the pharmaceutical stores nearby. However, he doesn't disclose his reason...
S01:E04 - Storm in a Cocoon
BING-BING accuses PO-CHING of murder, but PO-CHING denies it and frankly discloses where he was the night HAU-YEE died, during which KA-YEUNG also shows up to clear his name. WING-CHEUNG intends to dismiss BING-BING for allegedly spreading rumors to create trouble, but KA-HIN pleas for leniency for her. KA-YEUNG secretly releases PO-CHING, who reveals to him that HAU-YEE must have received assistance from someone who is very familiar with the management of the silk factory. BING-BING discovers there is something wrong with the sky cocoon. However, before she can report it, she is instead alleged to have made profit from selling the valuable sky cocoon. KWOK-LEUNG considers expelling BING-BING, who suspects that someone must have imputed the blame to her. WING-CHEUNG suggests that WING-NIN should cultivate KA-HIN to be the in- charge, yet, in fact, he just wants to provoke WING-NIN to express his dissatisfaction with KA-HIN. Having learned that KA-YEUNG let PO-CHING go, KA-HIN also starts having a suspicious feeling that HAU-YEE's death was not merely a suicide. With KA-YEUNG's persuasion, WING-NIN finally agrees to let KA-HIN try to run the business. KA-HIN requests all the girls to work overtime, trying to get the work done early. Concerning that the silk quality might be inevitably compromised if the workers don't have enough rest time, PIK-WAN refuses to cooperate with him...
S01:E05 - Storm in a Cocoon
PIK-WAN's elder brother Thuggish SHING and other silk farmers request a rise in price, and PIK-WAN attempts to stop them but in vain. KA-HIN feels annoyed as there is a lack of cocoons. WING-CHEUNG believes there must be an inside source who informs SHING to ask for a pay raise, so KWOK-LEUNG highly suspects that PIK-WAN is the one. After learning that KA-HIN wants to push the stage four worms to make cocoons early, PIK-WAN suggests a workable proposal. With SIU-KWAN and other silk farmers being attacked, SHING thinks that the attack is initiated by Wing Tai Lung. Later on, CHOR-KAU finds out that all the stage four worms are dead. Thinking the worms died from gas poisoning, KA-YEUNG suspects it's the deed done by PIK-WAN. Apart from alleging in front of WIN-NIN that KA-HIN has made the matter worse, WING-CHEUNG and KWOK-LEUNG also claim that they have ways to buy new cocoons so as to show off their good connection in the industry as well as their ability. The silk farmers notice that the moths are going to fly out of the cocoons, so they intend to argue with SHING, worrying that the cocoons are no more suitable for making silk. However, SHING and his wife try to run away. Being stormed with PIK-WAN's questions, SHING reveals the truth to her...... KA-HIN manages to deliver the goods on time, solving Wing Tai Lung's crisis. As such, WING-NIN is impressed by him...
S01:E06 - Storm in a Cocoon
With KA-YEUNG being his adviser, KA-HIN arranges the silk farmers to continue to cooperate with Wing Tai Lung, successfully easing the tension between them. KA-YEUNG even deduces the instigator of the riot was HAU-YEE's murderer. BING-BING sees a Lingzhi mushroom so she picks it for SIU-KWAN as it's good for her health. At that moment, she reveals her past love story to KA-YEUNG, including how she met her husband KWAN CHO-YIU. CHENG CHEONG instigates WING-CHEUNG to be the person in-charge of Wing Tai Lung, whereas WING-CHEUNG considers it very difficult as KA-YEUNG will assist KA-HIN. Suddenly, Wing Tai Lung receives a very big order, which is to produce forty bolts of silk cloth within half a month, so KA-HIN asks PIK-WAN and the girls to work overtime to meet the target. PIK-WAN then recalls her bygones when she and KA-HIN were lovers, and how she later became a single girl. In an attempt to ferret out the culprit, KA-YEUNG once again leaves home. Although WING-NIN hopes KA-YEUNG to be the one in-charge, KA-YEUNG suggests taking up the duty together with KA-HIN. Trying to win BING-BING over, YIM-TO arranges her to handle the recruitment process. A girl called FUNG CHI-CHING is allegedly in debt, and her debtor CHIU threatens to sell her to a brothel. In view of this, BING-BING helps her pay off the debt and even decides to keep her in KWAN's home.
S01:E07 - Storm in a Cocoon
BING-BING advises CHI-CHING to apply for a job in Wing Tai Lung, unfortunately, CHI-CHING is unable to get through the last section of the recruitment process. Although PIK-WAN eliminates CHI-CHING in the last section, YIM-TO lets CHI-CHING stay. YIM-TO attempts to win BING-BING over, making KA-HIN feel pretty embarrassed. On his discovery of an unknown key in HAU-YEE's room, KA-YEUNG asks maid CHUK about it. Tracking down the truth by following the clues, KA-YEUNG learns that HAU-YEE went to Fat Wah Nunnery one month ahead of her death, so he launches an investigation together with BING-BING. With BING-BING and PIK-WAN training the newly recruited workers, BING-BING intends to let PIK-WAN teach CHI-CHING, during which YIN-FOON keeps yelling at CHI-CHING to flaunt her power. However, CHI-CHING seems to be up to something. When she asks LAI-KUEN and the others about where she can borrow money from, BING-BING exhorts her not to borrow money from loan sharks. KA-YEUNG asks BING-BING whether she noticed any particular behavior of HAU-YEE before the night she died. BING-BING recalls that, on one occasion when HAU-YEE felt unwell, she attempted to check her pulse, but was prevented by HAU-YEE. While investigating in the Fat Wah Nunnery, KA-YEUNG and BING-BING spot a small cottage in front of HAU-YEE's reading room, suspecting there is something else hidden beneath the surface...
S01:E08 - Storm in a Cocoon
KA-YEUNG surmises the cottage was the place where HAU-YEE was secretly dating her lover, asserting her lover killed HAU-YEE to prevent divulgence of his secrets, but BING-BING finds it hard to believe. After questioning one by one those male workers who are responsible to handle the dyeing section and also were absent from work, KA-YEUNG finds out that many of them are lying, unfortunately, he still lacks evidence. On the other hand, CHI-CHING bursts into tears in front of CHOR-KAU, saying that a famine occurs in her hometown and her aunt's family is in trouble. As a result, CHOR-KAU lends her his hard-earned money. Suddenly, CHI-CHING sees regional bully CHIU walking around with her portrait to ask about her, so she immediately goes into hiding. When TSIN-KAN sneaks out of the dormitory in search of his lost belongings, KA-YEUNG shows up without warning and implies that TSIN-KAN looks very dubious...... With BING-BING catching a cold, TONG WING is worried about her very much. Although he says that he heard someone gossiping about BING-BING, TONG WING makes it clear that BING-BING can always find herself a new husband as his daughter BING-BING hasn't actually married CHO-YIU yet. In TSIN-KAN's room, BING-BING notices HAU-YEE's handkerchief, so she suspects TSIN-KAN is somewhat related with HAU-YEE's death. TSIN-KAN attempts to burn down the cottage where HAU-YEE stayed during her pregnancy, during which he and KA-YEUNG are struggling together, causing a fire in the house. TSIN-KAN then locks himself inside the house so as to die for his love HAU-YEE.
S01:E09 - Storm in a Cocoon
After being rescued from fire by KA-YEUNG, TSIN-KAN reflects on the past when HAU-YEE got pregnant and tried to avoid miscarriage before her death, showing his deepest love for HAU-YEE. CHIU goes to the silk factory, demanding them to return his wife "WONG NGA-CHI" to him. Having caught a glimpse of CHIU, CHI-CHING immediately runs away, raising a colossal uproar in town. KA-HIN requests CHI-CHING to leave the silk factory, whereas BING-BING and PIK-WAN plead with KA-HIN for her. CHI-CHING worries that she would inevitably be married off to the villain, so all the girls in the factory offer a variety of solutions, among which CHI-CHING thinks staying single is the best way to solve the problem. When BING-BING advises CHI-CHING to have a second thought, PIK-WAN thinks BING-BING despises the single girls. Seizing the opportunity when CHI-CHING goes out together with BING-BING, CHIU takes away CHI-CHING by force. CHOR-KAU tries to thwart CHIU, but is hit and injured instead. Fortunately, KA-YEUNG appears and defeats CHIU. WING-NIN blames KA-HIN for letting his wife hire the worker girl with the dubious background that caused this trouble. Above that, he even restricts YIM-TO from intervening in the business of Wing Tai Lung anymore. BING-BING is very depressed after finding the pocket watch left behind by CHO-YIU has gone missing. Having learned the pocket watch actually belongs to BING-BING's husband, KA-YEUNG goes to search it together with BING-BING.
S01:E10 - Storm in a Cocoon
KA-YEUNG notices that CHOR-KAU constantly peeps at CHI-CHING, so he tells CHOR-KAU to give up on her. KWOK-LEUNG indicates that KA-YEUNG inspects the silk factory on a daily basis and dispatches the herbal tea to the workers there, above which KA-YEUNG is very gracious and courteous to BING-BING. So WING-CHEUNG and KWOK-LEUNG come up with a plot, scheming to attack KA-YEUNG's reputation by spreading the rumor that he is having an affair. YIN-FOON spots KWOK-LEUNG acting dubiously in the office, but KWOK-LEUNG reveals his emotional side, successfully making YIN-FOON show a sentiment of pity and compassion for him. KA-YEUNG asks KWOK-LEUNG for the list of their clients, during which he sees KWOK-LEUNG acting very nervously so he cannot help thinking there must be a lot of untold secrets between WING-CHEUNG and KWOK-LEUNG. Apart from giving YIN-FOON a silk handkerchief made in France, KWOK-LEUNG also sweet-talks her, making her lose her mind and throw herself at him. Having heard that KA-YEUNG made herbal tea for BING-BING, KA-HIN reminds KA-YEUNG to beware of his behavior. When examining the account book, KA-YEUNG nearly has a quarrel with WING-CHEUNG. WING-CHEUNG advises that KA-YEUNG should start working from the ground up, so KA-YEUNG suggests that he would like to follow WING-CHEUNG to learn the business in the Silk and Satin Shop. In response to WING-NIN's queries on the gossips about KA-YEUNG from outside, YUEN-KAM indicates that someone must have been deliberately ruining KA-YEUNG's reputation, and her bluster is directed against KA-HIN and his wife...
S01:E11 - Storm in a Cocoon
By taking advantage of YIM-TO, WING-CHEUNG spreads a rumor of KA-YEUNG and BING-BING having an affair, above which he even makes WING-NIN misconstrue that KA-HIN and his wife were purposely oppressing KA-YEUNG. YIM-TO refuses to obey, so the couple has a quarrel with each other. Getting himself so drunk, KA-HIN pours out his grief to PIK-WAN as he still feels very guilty for hurting her feeling ten years ago. KA-YEUNG brings some western medicine to treat TSIN-KAN's injuries, but TONG WING treats KA-YEUNG very unfriendly fearing that someone will gossip about it. CHO-YIU miraculously survives after having disappeared for two years. He not only returns to his hometown, but also plans to take his family members as well as BING-BING to do business in Guangzhou and leave POON's Village, whereas BING-BING is uncertain about what to do as she starts developing feelings for KA-YEUNG. KWOK-LEUNG airs his grievance to YIN-FOON, who cannot help having an intimate relationship with him. When she goes to POON's Mansion to pick up stuff, BING-BING uncovers that CHO-YIU is hiding something from her, which plants even more doubt in her mind. KA-YEUNG chases after CHO-YIU to attack him vigorously as soon as he sees the latter. It turns out that KA-YEUNG caught a group of bandits when he was still serving in the army, and CHO-YIU was one of them. On top of that, many things happened between them...
S01:E12 - Storm in a Cocoon
KA-YEUNG hunts down CHO-YIU to riverside, where the two fight each other. When BING-BING tries to stop them from doing so, KA-YEUNG reveals to her as to why he bears a grudge against CHO-YIU, berating CHO-YIU for biting the hand that feeds him as he killed KA-YEUNG's mentor TIN-CHI. Yet CHO-YIU counter argues that it's KA-YEUNG who had his mentor killed. Seeing these two guys embroil themselves endlessly in their arguments, BING-BING is greatly confused. Having returned home, CHO-YIU tells BING-BING about his miracle survival from a sinking boat, but BING-BING seems to not fully believe in him. Moreover, CHO-YIU plans to move to Guangzhou after they get married, promising BING-BING they will live happily ever after, which makes BING-BING feel even more perplexed. BING-BING's bridal sedan chair arrives at the front door of KWAN's home, only to find out that CHO-YIU has already gone missing. It turns out that the bandits PAU and the others have abducted CHO-YIU. BING-BING sees the note left by the bandits, who demand her to pay ransom worth five thousand dollars, so she begs KA-YEUNG to help save CHO-YIU. KA-YEUNG borrows money from his brother KA-HIN, who agrees. However, CHEUNG and LEUNG make a fuss about it, which makes WING-NIN scold KA-YEUNG and refuse to pay the ransom, leading to a falling-out between KA-YEUNG and his family. Trying another way to solve the problem, KA-YEUNG finally discovers the gold bars hidden by CHO-YIU and immediately dashes to the den of the bandits along with BING-BING. Tracking them down to the outside of a wine factory, they suddenly see CHO-YIU being severely beaten up, above which PAU even intends to kill CHO-YIU...
S01:E13 - Storm in a Cocoon
Seizing the opportunity when KA-YEUNG is exchanging fire with the bandits, CHO-YIU grabs the gold bars, attempting to run away with BING-BING. BING-BING reprimands CHO-YIU for it, but CHO-YIU says that the reason she is not willing to leave is due to her still having an affair with KA-YEUNG. On the other hand, LAI-KUEN and SIU-KWAN are very anxious about CHO-YIU's disappearance. SIU-KWAN goes to POON's Mansion, asking WING-NIN to release CHO-YIU. Above that, she even blames KA-YEUNG for having seduced BING-BING. Bristling with indignation, YUEN-KAM reveals that CHO-YIU was in fact kidnapped. All the girls in the factory are gossiping the things about BING-BING and KA-YEUNG, guessing they might have eloped. During his ferocious battle against the bandits, KA-YEUNG kills CHO-YIU in self-defense, and falls into the dungeon of the wine factory together with BING-BING after suffering injuries. Holding deeply-wounded BING-BING in his arms, he and BING-BING confide their feelings for each other. At last, the pair are rescued by KA-HIN and another two. SIU-KWAN and LAI-KUEN carry the coffin to the POON's Mansion to argue with them. BING-BING tries to persuade SIU-KWAN but is slapped on the face instead. Braving out to defend BING-BING against them, KA-YEUNG says that BING-BING is very faithful to CHO-YIU, which is very touching...
S01:E14 - Storm in a Cocoon
WING-NIN blames KA-YEUNG for not telling them the truth earlier, whereas YUEN-KAM worries that her son might be put in jail after killing someone. And WING-CHEUNG adds that the villagers will think their acts amount to condoning their son's crime. SIU-KWAN and her daughter are beaten up when trying to bury CHO-YIU in the mountain. KWOK-LEUNG drives them away and gives them fifty dollars for settling down, leaving the false impression that it's POON's family who ordered the attack. WING-CHEUNG sees the new jade pendant bought by KWOK-LEUNG, so he reprimands him for it. For fear of the incurring gossips, BING-BING knows perfectly well that she cannot stay in the silk factory anymore, so she decides to go back to the clinic and be a bonesetter again. As LAI-KUEN is unable to pay off her debt, Uncle TIN wants to sell her to Ying Heung Lau to be a prostitute. Fortunately, BING-BING gives her a hand, getting her out of trouble. Having gradually recovered from his illness, KA-SING recalls that the late HAU-YEE wanted him to learn how to do the bookkeeping, so he tries to find an accountant book to learn the skill. With KA-YEUNG suspecting that WING-CHEUNG and KWOK-LEUNG are involved in corruption, WING-CHEUNG intends to arrange KWOK-LEUNG to hide in Foshan temporarily. He makes excuses that Wing Tai Lung is going to buy some land in Foshan for the establishment of a new factory, so WING-NIN agrees to let him follow the matter. Meanwhile, WING-NIN mentions again that he would like KA-YEUNG to be the one in-charge...
S01:E15 - Storm in a Cocoon
KA-SING is using silk cloth to practise the Cantonese opera movements skills. Seizing the opportunity to curry favor with him, CHI-CHING steps forwards to sing the opera together with him, leaving him a good impression. The business wisdom KA-YEUNG demonstrated when running Wing Tai Lung is impressed by KA-HIN. As YIN-FOON will have to swear to stay single, she requests KWOK-LEUNG to marry her, but KWOK-LEUNG makes many excuses to put her off. YIN-FOON doesn't feel well, so BING-BING checks her pulse and finds out that she is pregnant. KA-SING fetches a handkerchief in the late HAU-YEE's room to burn it as offering to her, following which KA-YEUNG inadvertently uncovers new evidence. BING-BING persuades YIN-FOON to tell PIK-WAN about her affair with KWOK-LEUNG, otherwise, she would be put to death if her affair were discovered after she swears to be a single girl. Having found out that not only YIN-FOON but also the jade bangle she gave to YIN-FOON have gone missing, PIK-WAN goes everywhere together with BING-BING to look for YIN-FOON. They finally locate YIN-FOON, who is sitting on the bridge and attempting to commit suicide, so PIK-WAN tries to prevent her from killing herself. When PIK-WAN and BING-BING are arguing about the resolutions of the issue, YIN-FOON decides to abort the baby...
S01:E16 - Storm in a Cocoon
BING-BING leads KA-YEUNG to the room where KWOK-LEUNG and YIN-FOON have a secret rendezvous. Through the calligraphy and painting hanging on the wall, KA-YEUNG recognizes it's the late HAU-YEE's room. All those from the Yuk Bing Hall know that YIN-FOON, being deceived by a man, is pregnant, so they request YIN-FOON to move out, but are convinced by PIK-WAN and change their mind. Once again, CHI-CHING tries to borrow money from CHOR-KAU, who in fact has no more money left. When KA-SING reveals to KA-HIN and KA-YEUNG what he overheard from KWOK-LEUNG, suddenly, the scene of the late HAU-YEE having a quarrel with KWOK-LEUNG flashes through his mind, thus making KA-YEUNG suspect that KWOK-LEUNG must have been somewhat involved in HAU-YEE's death. BING-BING asserts that KWOK-LEUNG must have killed HAU-YEE for covering up on her discovery of him pocketing the company money. She adds that WING-CHEUNG intends to arrange KWOK-LEUNG to hide in Foshan. In discussing the case together, KA-HIN, KA-YEUNG and BING-BING deduce that the evidence against KWOK-LEUNG must be in the room where KWOK-LEUNG secretly dated the late HAU-YEE. Having overheard this, KWOK-LEUNG attempts to burn down everything...
S01:E17 - Storm in a Cocoon
KA-HIN, KA-YEUNG and BING-BING accuse KWOK-LEUNG of murdering HAU-YEE after taking advantage of her to reap a profit in the silk factory, but KWOK-LEUNG denies the allegation. All of a sudden, a fire breaks out in the storehouse, so KA-HIN instructs KA-YEUNG to return to the storehouse and inspect the situation there. As a result, KWOK-LEUNG manages to escape. While blaming himself for letting KWOK-LEUNG get away, KA-HIN suggests they only tell their father about KWOK-LEUNG's embezzlement scheme, but conceal their assertion that KWOK-LEUNG might be HAU-YEE's murderer. The village chief and a large amount of villagers go to the Yuk Bing Hall, demanding PIK-WAN to hand over YIN-FOON to them for the public hearing in the ancestral hall. KA-HIN admits that YIN-FOON is bearing KWOK-LEUNG's offspring, so they would be setting themselves against POON's family if they keep making difficulty for YIN-FOON. When BING-BING and KA-YEUNG are having tofu pudding, someone sees them and asks BING-BING about them being together. Before KA-YEUNG can say anything, BING-BING immediately refutes it so as to show they have nothing to hide. PIK-WAN cries out loud at the pier, during which KA-HIN suddenly shows up, apologizing that he stood her up many years ago...
S01:E18 - Storm in a Cocoon
KA-HIN explains to PIK-WAN as to why he had to stand her up many years ago, adding that his feelings for YIM-TO are actually graciousness instead of love. WING-NIN reprimands KA-HIN for defending YIN-FOON in POON's name, whereas WING-CHEUNG doubts whether the child that YIN-FOON is bearing is really KWOK-LEUNG's offspring. In addition, YUEN-KAM unmasks the reason why KA-HIN braves out for YIN-FOON is actually for the sake of PIK-WAN. BING-BING pays a visit to SIU-KWAN and LAI-KUEN, and even gives them her salary, but SIU-KWAN chases after her and hits her with a broom. KA-SING lends money to CHI-CHING again, but is seen by KA-HIN. In response to KA-YEUNG's query on the storehouse fire, CHOR-KAU replies that the fire became worse after they tried to use sand to put out the fire. KA-HIN, while chatting with PIK-WAN, talks about CHI-CHING, finding out that her mouth is full of lies. Under their pressure, CHI-CHING has no other choice but to reveal to them everything while showing them the indictment for murder issued by the Public Order Bureau. KA YEUNG regrets that he had returned to the POON's family, as he notices that each of them has his/her own ax to grind, worrying that more unbelievable things would be inevitably revealed if he keeps probing into the matter.
S01:E19 - Storm in a Cocoon
CHI-CHING and CHOR-KAU arrive in Guangzhou, handing in the money to Uncle KEUNG so as to rescue CHI-CHING's father. Unexpectedly, they didn't realize that Uncle KEUNG was a rogue until the following day when they arrive at the Public Order Bureau. And by then, CHI-CHING's father has already been sent to the execution ground. CHI-CHING apologizes to BING-BING, adding that she doesn't know how she can return the favor to BING-BING and the other co-workers, whereas BING-BING just reminds her to cherish CHOR-KAU. BING-BING checks carefully as to what happened when the water leak was found in the storehouse. Having learned the details from her, KA-YEUNG surmises that KA-HIN deliberately let KWOK-LEUNG go. He then specifically tries to ascertain his elder brother's opinion. PIK-WAN notices that KA-HIN has something on his mind, so KA-HIN tells her that KWOK-LEUNG has made an appointment with WING-CHEUNG at the mountain god temple. While KA-YEUNG is tailing after KA-HIN, KWOK-LEUNG's dead body is discovered in a fish pond by some villagers. WING-CHEUNG suspects that KA-HIN and KA-YEUNG are somewhat involved in KWOK-LEUNG's death. Investigating in the mountain god temple, KA-YEUNG spots a stained glass charm, surmising it was left by the murderer. MEI-FUN suggests burying KWOK-LEUNG properly. All of a sudden, WING-CHEUNG accuses KA-HIN of murdering KWOK-LEUNG, presenting them with solid evidence...
S01:E20 - Storm in a Cocoon
WING-CHEUNG keeps questioning KA-HIN, whereas WING-NIN and the others also ask KA-HIN to tell them the truth. But KA-HIN obstinately denies murdering KWOK-LEUNG. Just as WING-CHEUNG is about to report to the police, PIK-WAN suddenly shows up, claiming herself is the murderer. KA-HIN doesn't want to implicate PIK-WAN, who is actually innocent, but PIK-WAN stops him from telling the truth. When BING-BING fetches some clothes for PIK-WAN, she, in PIK-WAN's closet, spots a stained glass charm bearing uncanny resemblance to the one she picked up in the mountain god temple. KA-YEUNG takes KA-SING to the cottage where HAU-YEE died, trying to stimulate him to recall more with regard to the case. WING-NIN believes that KA-YEUNG and KA-HIN must have concealed the cause of KWOK-LEUNG's death, asserting that KA-HIN must have been somewhat involved in KWOK-LEUNG's death. KA-YEUNG could not find KA-SING, so he goes to the cottage in search of his younger brother. Having seen this, KA-HIN tails him in secret. At last, KA-YEUNG rescues KA-SING, who drown in water, and give him first-aid treatment. Later on, he arranges KA-SING to stay temporarily in an inn so as not to startle their family members...
S01:E21 - Storm in a Cocoon
KA-YEUNG regrets getting his brothers into trouble after probing into the cause of HAU-YEE's death for what he thought to be righteousness. With his bluster pointing towards KA-HIN, WING-CHEUNG claims it's KA-HIN who killed HAU-YEE, and conspired with KWOK-LEUNG to embezzle company money, adding that KA-HIN killed KWOK-LEUNG to cover up his crimes and then coaxed PIK-WAN to be his scapegoat. Having heard these, WING-NIN is so shocked that he passes out. PIK-WAN plans to leave the POON's village together with YIN-FOON. Owing to the POON's family scandal, a large number of villagers wreak havoc in front of Wing Tai Lung, so WING-CHEUNG suggests letting him represent Wing Tai Lung to have a meeting with the four big traders. On his way to Guangzhou, the boat KA-SING is taking sinks from a hole in it. BING-BING reveals that TONG WING is not her biological father. When hiding from the rain, BING-BING tells her innermost thoughts and feelings to KA-YEUNG...
S01:E22 - Storm in a Cocoon
WING-CHEUNG has a meeting with the four big traders and those who represent Kai Hing Shing turn out to be TSEUNG CHI-YAN and PIK-WAN's brother SHING. CHI-YAN has an appointment with WING-CHEUNG, suggesting cooperating with him in private. Later on, WING-CHEUNG introduces CHI-YAN to KA-YEUNG, during which CHI-YAN offers to buy Wing Tai Lung. Having heard of KA-SING's disappearance, WING-NIN and his wife vent their grievance and anger on KA-HIN, who takes it to heart. CHI-YAN joins forces with other factories to sell the silk cloth cheap, causing Wing Tai Lung's sales to decline. Their new client Fung Shun orders 300 bolts of silk cloth with a requested delivery date of ten days, but more than ten workers of the silk factory suddenly tender their resignation. On his discovery of the problem in the silk cloth, KA-YEUNG finds out the problem stems from the water quality, believing there must be some foreigners who manipulated someone inside to do so. When KA-YEUNG requests the girls to work overtime again, PIK-WAN worries about BING-BING's illness. BING-BING asks KA-YEUNG to give her an injection so that she can continue to work...
S01:E23 - Storm in a Cocoon
Both KA-YEUNG and KA-HIN think that WING-CHEUNG can no longer stay in the POON's family, whereas WING-CHEUNG counter requests to divide their family property. BING-BING feels unwell and almost passes out, so KA-YEUNG carries her in his arms right in front of the others. WING-CHEUNG has no idea as to why WING-NIN wants to keep him in the POON's family, but CHI-YAN, in secret, convinces him to continue to stay in Wing Tai Lung so that they can work in collusion with each other. CHI-YAN not only makes an appointment to meet KA-HIN, but also takes him to see her biological mother. On top of that, CHI-YAN even discloses the long-standing grudges between him and WING-NIN as well as his relationship with KA-HIN. KA-YEUNG asks someone to investigate the background of Fung Shun in Guangzhou and finally learns of the truth. He plans to double the pay of the workers by using the liquidity fund, but KA-HIN indicates that they are unable to retrieve the arrears and debts in time. During his meeting with CHI-YAN, WING-CHEUNG discovers that LAI-KUEN has already gone to work for CHI-YAN. KA-YEUNG delivers the silk cloth to their branches, hoping to clear the stock as soon as possible. In this regard, WING-CHEUNG suggests hosting a big clearance sale. On the contrary, BING-BING proposes raising the retail price. On the other hand, WING-NIN and his wife meet up with BING-BING, implying that they will not accept BING-BING to be their daughter-in-law...
S01:E24 - Storm in a Cocoon
KA-YEUNG promises BING-BING that he will take her to live in Yunnan once he gets things from the silk factory all settled. BING-BING goes to pray and draw a divination stick, in which it shows that she should be able to overcome the difficulties. Having guessed that the POON's family forced BING-BING to leave KA-YEUNG, PIK-WAN has a word with BING-BING and encourages her. As BING-BING intends to leave alone, KA-YEUNG manages to convince her to stay. After KA-YEUNG takes BING-BING home, WING-NIN expresses that he will not object to their marriage anymore. In addition, WING-NIN reveals that he is going to let KA-HIN run the silk and satin shop, promising to let him gain a 20% profit, however, KA-HIN is very dissatisfied with the arrangement. CHI-YAN meets up with WING-NIN, and even leads him to visit YEE-HUNG. Eventually, KA-HIN comes to realize the circumstances behind his birth. He then gives full vent to his grievance when meeting PIK-WAN, who discloses the secret that KA-YEUNG is a deserter from the military. With BING-BING raising the bygones again, TONG WING replies that he has looked for BING-BING's biological parents for many years but in vain. Suddenly, KA-HIN receives a letter from CHI-YAN, who informs him that YEE-HUNG is dying and hoping to see KA-HIN.
S01:E25 - Storm in a Cocoon
KA-HIN intends to wreak vengeance on WING-NIN by making public known of what he has done, but CHI-YAN tries to convince KA-HIN to stay in the POON's family, waiting for a good timing. After KA-YEUNG and BING-BING tie the knot, WING-NIN hands over the business of Wing Tai Lung to KA-YEUNG officially. CHI-YAN and LAI-KUEN turn up without being invited and give them a plaque showing the words "Adulterous Couple". In addition, CHI-YAN lashes out against KA-YEUNG for having an affair with BING-BING, who was someone else's wife, and having killed someone. At that moment, some soldiers arrive there. Apart from accusing KA-YEUNG of desertion, they arrest him on charges of spying. Seizing this opportunity, YUEN-KAM and YIM-TO blame BING-BING for implicating KA-YEUNG. WING-CHEUNG is very happy, thinking he is the soon-to-be person-in-charge of Wing Tai Lung. However, CHI-YAN tries to coax him to support KA-HIN. KA-YEUNG is taken into custody, and just before he is going to be sent to Guangzhou, BING-BING catches up with him. During that time, KA-YEUNG not only reveals his suspicion to her that the arrest is acting on a tip-off, but also exhorts her to take good care of his parents in his stead, adding that they should not let WING-CHEUNG get his way. Knowing that his elder brother doesn't trust him, WING-CHEUNG instead urges WING-NIN to hand over the silk factory to KA-HIN to run the business...
S01:E26 - Storm in a Cocoon
WING-NIN intends to hand over the reins of Wing Tai Lung to BING-BING, making WING-CHEUNG feel offended. Although BING-BING worries that she might not be able to handle it, WING-NIN has already made up his mind, and even prepared notices and post them in eye-catching areas of the silk factory. Having faith in KA-YEUNG's choice, WING-NIN also points out that BING-BING resembles the character of his late daughter HAU-YEE, believing that she is capable of running the silk factory. BING-BING reveals that KA-YEUNG warned her to beware of WING-CHEUNG and CHI-YAN, but she has no idea as to why WING-CHEUNG wants KA-HIN to be the person-in-charge. In fact, WING-NIN has already seen through WING-CHEUNG, knowing that he attempts to manipulate KA-HIN. WING-NIN adds that he would have already handed over Wing Tai Lung to KA-HIN if KA-HIN was qualified. When BING-BING asks PIK-WAN whether she mentioned to anyone else that KA-YEUNG was a deserter from the military, PIK-WAN replies that she didn't. However, BING-BING senses something wrong because, as far as she knows, no one else knows it other than three of them. Meanwhile, PIK-WAN goes to question KA-HIN, who strenuously denies the “tip-off” claim.
S01:E27 - Storm in a Cocoon
Once again, BING-BING asks PIK-WAN whether she told KA-HIN about KA-YEUNG's desertion. Though PIK-WAN continues to deny it, BING-BING is sure that PIK-WAN lies about it. Revealing that it's beyond her control, PIK-WAN emphasizes that she, as a single girl, has no marital relationship with KA-HIN, so she has no right to refrain him from doing anything. Having regarded BING-BING as her best friend, she also warns BING-BING to be careful. KA-HIN forces WING-NIN to hand over the reins to him, but WING-NIN refuses to comply, so KA-HIN throws a glass of Ginseng tea at WING-NIN. WING-CHEUNG unmasks that CHI-YAN colludes with the Japanese to buy out all the raw silk made in China, then resell it to the Chinese after weaving the silk into clothing so as to suppress the sales growth of made-in-China products. While admitting that he is cooperating with the Japanese, CHI-YAN thinks there is nothing wrong as long as they can profit from it. Meanwhile, CHI-YAN tries to convince WING-CHEUNG that they are just doing business with the Japanese for mutual benefit. Instead, WING-CHEUNG unmasks the collusion between CHI-YAN and KA-HIN, saying they just take advantage of him to help KA-HIN take over the reins of the family business.
S01:E28 - Storm in a Cocoon
Unwilling to work for KA-HIN, all the workers there intend to leave Wing Tai Lung, whereas KA-HIN announces that he has already informed the other three big silk factories and none of them will hire Wing Tai Lung's workers, warning them not to make trouble anymore. Out of the blue, KA-YEUNG is released and returns to the silk factory, which greatly surprises everyone. He questions KA-HIN with regard to the drastic change of the POON's family, but KA-HIN makes excuses for what he has done, and even blames BING-BING for sending their senior parents WING-NIN and YUEN-KAM to stay in the stone house. In addition, he reprimands BING-BING for sowing discord in front of WING-NIN, warning KA-YEUNG to beware of her. Having known that KA-YEUNG met KA-HIN, WING-NIN appears to be extremely anxious. After asking his father why he let KA-HIN succeed to the person-in-charge, KA-YEUNG assumes that his father must have acted under KA-HIN's coercion. CHI-CHING requests CHOR-KAU to leave Wing Tai Lung with her to start afresh, which is overheard by KA-YEUNG. Claiming she doesn't want to work for KA-HIN, CHI-CHING makes it clear that she and CHOR-KAU are willing to stay for KA-YEUNG if KA-YEUNG wants to start his own business. To their surprise, KA-YEUNG not only asks them to stay in Wing Tai Lung, but also reassures them that he is confident of steering Wing Tai Lung on the right track.
S01:E29 - Storm in a Cocoon
KA-YEUNG surprisingly sees his father coughing up blood and lapsing into a coma, and his father passes away shortly after saying that KA-HIN is his own child. Holding his father’s ancestral tablet, KA-YEUNG and his wife return to the silk factory. Overwhelmed with sorrow for WING-NIN's death, CHOR-KAU gets down on his knees to pay his tribute, whereas KA-HIN gives them a blank look. Claiming that it's CHI-YAN who had WING-NIN killed, KA-YEUNG requests KA-HIN, as the eldest son of the POON's family, to seek justice for their family. CHOR-KAU catches a glimpse of SHING as the latter walks by suspiciously, so he tails him to CHI-YAN's home, where he overhears that KA-HIN is indeed WING-NIN's biological son, and CHI-YAN is determined to fuel the sibling rivalry between KA-HIN and KA-YEUNG. Having spotted CHOR-KAU, CHI-YAN chases after him, during which he runs into KA-HIN and SHING, so he asks them to hunt down CHOR-KAU together with him. CHOR-KAU runs to the mountain cliff and slips down. After he suffers injuries and returns to the silk factory, KA-YEUNG suspects that it's CHI-YAN and KA-HIN who caused his injuries. In the meantime, CHOR-KAU discloses what he overheard from CHI-YAN, which is that KA-HIN is actually the son of the late WING-NIN and YEE-HUNG.
S01:E30 - Storm in a Cocoon
BING-BING asks SHING regarding CHI-YAN looking for his own daughter. According to him, the timeframe and the relative circumstances when CHI-YAN was separated from his daughter match what TONG WING told her. Holding the little bell in her hand, BING-BING thinks so hard about the issue, finding there is too much coincidence and worries that she might be CHI-YAN's missing daughter. She tells herself that even if she is CHI-YAN's daughter, nonetheless, she is not going to accept heartless CHI-YAN as her own father. KA-YEUNG comes up with an idea to get some of CHI-YAN's blood in the hospital, and matches it with BING-BING's for verification...... CHI-YAN notices that someone has paid tribute at YEE-HUNG's tomb, and also spots BING-BING nearby, so he approaches LAI-KUEN, inquiring about BING-BING's background. Later on, he receives an anonymous letter, telling him to meet someone in the forest where he will know his daughter's whereabouts. Having discovered that BING-BING goes to pay tribute to the late YEE-HUNG, CHI-YAN, takes out his bell, hoping to make BING-BING recognize him as her father. But, BING-BING refuses to do so...
S01:E31 - Storm in a Cocoon
CHI-YAN gains acceptance from BING-BING, who eventually calls him father, making him really happy. He attempts to deliver the firearms to Zhaoqing overnight, but is caught red-handed by Staff Officer CHEUNG. In the nick of time, he runs away and intends to leave the POON's village, bringing along BING-BING with him. KA-YEUNG goes to stop CHI-YAN, who shoots at him right away, fortunately, KA-YEUNG manages to dodge the bullet. The two start fighting each other, in a split second, KA-YEUNG fires a gun at CHI-YAN...... Through the government's investigation, CHI-YAN is accused of stealing and defrauding Wing Tai Lung from the POON's family, so the POON's family can recover all their property, and KA-YEUNG can also move back to the POON's mansion together with his family members. KA-YEUNG gives BING-BING a rainbow handkerchief as gift, saying that he will always share her burden no matter what might happen in the future. Apart from asking KA-YEUNG whether he will be honest with her no matter what, BING-BING also inquires whether she is CHI-YAN's daughter. After KA-YEUNG tells her that she is not CHI-YAN's daughter, BING-BING comes to realize that she cannot stay with him anymore...
S01:E32 - Storm in a Cocoon
Having prepared an ancestral tablet for the late CHOR-KAU, CHI-CHING performs marriage rites with the tablet, becoming CHOR-KAU's wife and swearing to stay single from then on. As heavy rain causes flash flooding across the area, everyone in the POON's family is so busy piling up the sandbags. KA-YEUNG, on the one hand, urges Uncle SHUI together with Sis LAN to lead YUEN-KAM, YIM-TO and the others to hide in the Fat Wah Nunnery as it's higher, and on the other hand, he himself goes back to the silk factory together with KA-HIN to evacuate the workers there. However, the workers know that Wing Tai Lung had a hard time achieving success, so they volunteer to stay in the factory to pile up the sandbags so as to prevent the machines there from being destroyed. Upon her return to the POON's village, BING-BING surprisingly sees that the whole village is submerged under water, houses collapsed and people are running away. Having looked everywhere, KA-YEUNG spots BING-BING's rainbow handkerchief in the water, and eventually finds out that BING-BING is sitting on the roof. With the water level getting higher and higher, KA-YEUNG dives down in the water and manages to grab the signboard of Wing Tai Lung, letting BING-BING, who is not good at swimming, to sit on it, while he is pushing it from behind and swimming towards the land. Unexpectedly, before the couple can talk with each other, KA-YEUNG is hit by a big block of wood on the head, coughing up blood and falling unconscious, whereas BING-BING could only sit there helplessly, watching her husband being engulfed by the flood water...
