A Fist Within Four Walls

In 1945, Kowloon Walled City is a no man's land with many gangsters ever since Hong Kong was ceded to other country. DUEN TUNG-TIN of Duen Style Baji decides to police the area with his apprentices. The villagers are attacked by the local tyrant. TUNG-TIN arrives to rescue them and he starts a fight with CHIU MENG-SHAN. They later discover that they have misunderstood each other and they fight against the local tyrant together. MENG-SHAN and TUNG-TIN become friends. He reveals that Chiu Style Baji and Duen Style Baji have been fighting with each other to determine who is the original master. TUNG-TIN suggests to have a contest with each other when Kowloon Walled City is in peace. In the late evening, the walled city is suddenly on fire. TUNG-TIN rushes into the place to rescue others but he fails to come out after a long time. In order to calm down TUNG-TIN's wife, MENG-SHAN enters the place to look for TUNG-TIN. After the fire, TUNG-TIN's younger brother discovers that MENG-SHAN has killed TUNG-TIN. MENG-SHAN denies it and he is willing to report the case to the police for investigation. Everybody in the walled city regards MENG-SHAN and his family members as enemies. They refuse to supply food and water to them. MENG-SHAN's wife SHUK-KUEN is very weak but she tries hard to maintain the family. People suddenly say that MENG-SHAN has escaped from the prison. TUNG-TIN's younger brother try to make a mess at MENG-SHAN's home with other villagers. In 1959, CHOR AU-KUEN goes to Kowloon Walled City alone to find his younger sister but he is cheated by BUT TAK-LIU.

YING-FUNG returns to the place where his father died to think through the case and he meets AU-KUEN accidentally. In the morning, AU-KUEN meets WAI-YAM whom he used to help before. WAI-YAM learns that he is homeless and she introduces him to work at the hair salon. TIU LAN serves AU-KUEN enthusiastically in the beginning but her attitude changes completely after learning that he is looking for a job. LAU TAI's husband is TAK-LIU. TAK-LIU recommends AU-KUEN to deliver water so that he could find people easily. The famous tyrant of the walled city, FUNG HA-MOON, arrives at the hair salon. He has a lust for WAI-YAM at first sight. LAU TAI prepares meal for the 4 Golden Flowers, WOO NI, KO YEUNG, LAI TSAU and WONG FA-TSEUK. During meal, they say that TIU LAN has no boyfriend and TIU LAN is angry. TIU LAN suffers from toothache. She meets YING-FUNG and she is attracted by his charming appearance. The subordinates of Fung Brothers go to collect protection money at YING-FUNG's dental clinic. AU-KUEN cannot bear it...

Ever since the chairman is dead, the three powerful men in the walled city are planning to take over the role with tricks. OR MAN-CHEUNG's daughter TAK-LI returns to Hong Kong after graduating from overseas university. MAN-CHEUNG introduces SHING-FU to her. He says that SHING-FU is good at martial arts and he can protect her. TAK-LI says that she wants to visit Sister MARIA at Kowloon Walled City but MAN-CHEUNG objects it. SHING-FU visits BO-FUNG and sends her a Buddha statue. However, BO-FUNG says that she will not recognize him when he is still working for the gang. AU-KUEN discovers his family member's tablet. He learns from the temple attendant that YING-FUNG has set up the tablet. AU-KUEN goes to the dental clinic to question YING-FUNG about CHIU HA's matter. TIU LAN spends all her savings to rescue WAI-YAM from HA-MOON but she learns that WAI-YAM will only be released two days later. After learning about the matter, AU-KUEN wants to rescue WAI-YAM. BO-FUNG says that he is not a member of the walled city and he should not take the risk. However, AU-KUEN finally gains support from BO-FUNG and TAK-LIU.

In order to find WAI-YAM, HA-MOON arrives at YING-FUNG's dental clinic and he asks his subordinates to perform a search there. AU-KUEN is seriously injured after the rescue attempt and he is kept in a secret location. TIU LAN and the others try to make plan to escape but YING-FUNG doesn't want to fight with the people in the fellow association and TIU LAN is disappointed. TIU LAN contacts Boss YEUNG of the sticky rice pudding company and requests him to deliver some goods but Boss YEUNG rejects her immediately for he thinks that the goods are problematic. HA-MOON arrives at BO-FUNG's shop with his subordinates to perform a search there. BO-FUNG defeats HA-MOON's subordinates but she fails to defeat HA-MOON. SHING-FU suddenly arrives. HA-MOON announces to all villagers at the walled city that he will kill everybody in the city if WAI-YAM and AU-KUEN are still missing after three days. YING-FUNG returns home to discover that SIU-CHI is behaving strangely. He discovers that WAI-YAM and AU-KUEN are hiding at his place.

CHUN-MEI invites the doctor to treat HA-MOON but the doctor says that HA-MOON has died already. In order to thank SHING-FU for rescuing TAK-LI, MAN-CHEUNG decides to award him but SHING-FU wants to continue with the fight. After learning that HA-MOON has died, YING-FUNG asks WAI-YAM to run away immediately. AU-KUEN is still missing. YING-FUNG tries to help sending WAI-YAM away by pretending to be a transport worker. AU-KUEN is captured by CHUN-MEI for she believes that he has killed HA-MOON. Everybody believes that CHUN-MEI will kill AU-KUEN but CHUN-MEI only tries to make clothes for HA-MOON. YING-FUNG receives a ghost wedding invitation from CHUN-MEI. ZIT-KEUNG explains that CHUN-MEI wants him to send WAI-YAM to her or she will harm everybody in the dental clinic. In order to rescue AU-KUEN, BO-FUNG visits CHUN-MEI. BO-FUNG is being defeated. AU-KUEN tries hard to break the ropes and escape with BO-FUNG...

All villagers thank YING-FUNG for bringing them peace again. The 4 Golden Flowers admire YING-FUNG very much and TIU LAN is very jealous. YING-FUNG suggests AU-KUEN to learn Baji Fist together so that they can protect the walled city but AU-KUEN refuses to learn it. TIU LAN suggests them to have a contest. YING-FUNG says that he will recognize AU-KUEN if he can hit him once in three minutes. AU-KUEN rushes to the grocery to kneel down in front of BO-FUNG for he wants her to teach him martial arts but BO-FUNG ignores him. TAK-LI accompanies Sister MARIA to return to the walled city and she tries to visit AU-KUEN. TAK-LI finally meets AU-KUEN. AU-KUEN remembers that she is MAN-CHEUNG's daughter and he doesn't want to have any relationship with her. TIU LAN wants to visit WAI-YAM and she leaves the walled city with YING-FUNG. They go to the newspaper office where WAI-YAM is working but they discover that WAI-YAM is washing the toilet there. During the contest, BO-FUNG discovers that YING-FUNG has defeated AU-KUEN with ease. However, she is pleased since she has discovered something.

TAK-LI says that she has become a teacher. MAN-CHEUNG believes that she is teaching in a famous school but she is actually helping Sister MARIA to teach the poor children at the walled city for free. AU-KUEN wants TAK-LI to give up and he claims that SIU-SUN is his son and TIU LAN is his wife. YING-FUNG is safeguarding the standpipe and many girls adore him. TIU LAN is very jealous. AU-KUEN refuses to practice all the time. TIU LAN plays trick to urge him to practice with SIU-CHI. AU-KUEN finally discovers that TIU LAN is fond of YING-FUNG and he tries to negotiate with her. He promises to arrange a date for her and YING-FUNG. BO-FUNG wants to send four durians to WAI-YAM and she asks AU-KUEN and the others to deliver them but they discover that WAI-YAM and her father are captured by others. YING-FUNG and the others start a fight with the people from the wholesale fruit market. TIU LAN is injured while trying to rescue WAI-YAM. When TIU LAN wakes up, she forgets everything about the wholesale fruit market.

When TAK-LI teaches voluntarily, the students are hungry and she buys sticky rice pudding for them but all of them suffer from food poisoning afterwards. CHUK-LUN arrives to apologize by kneeling down in front of everybody. It turns out that he is having contact with Opium KAM. CHUK-LUN is ashamed and he wants to pay for the students' medical expenses but Opium KAM arrives to take away all his money. Opinion KAM threatens him with the life of all workshop staff and asks him to help transferring the opium to another place. CHUK-LUN reveals everything to AU-KUEN and the others. He hopes that they could protect everybody. AU-KUEN tells YING-FUNG that they could seize the chance to set up a welfare association to fight against the fellow association so that they can eliminate the illegal activities in the walled city. The nurse wants to get paid before rescuing SIU-SUN. TAK-LIU tries to join the illegal boxing contest. YIP FAI brings TAK-LIU to observe his competitor secretly. TAK-LIU discovers that his competitor is very strong and he will surely be defeated. He visits MAN-CHEUNG to reveal that he wants to withdraw from the contest.

TAK-LIU refuses to get on stage. YIP FAI arrives and says that he has found supporters. AU-KUEN and YING-FUNG arrive to join the contest on behalf of the welfare association. YING-FUNG discovers that AU-KUEN is fighting in Chiu Style Baji. AU-KUEN explains that he has learnt it from CHIU-YEUNG. SHING-FU joins the boxing contest. BO-FUNG suddenly arrives to scold SHING-FU for fighting fiercely. AU-KUEN and YING-FUNG observe SHING-FU's boxing style and they try to find a way to fight against him. BO-FUNG arrives to reveal the tactics to them. AU-KUEN and the others learn that YING-FUNG has broke up with ZIT-KEUNG because of the welfare association and he is homeless. They invite YING-FUNG to stay with them. FA MAN suddenly visits MAN-CHEUNG for she wants to make a bet on the boxing contest. TAK-LI visits SHING-FU for she wants him to lose the contest with AU-KUEN. On the other hand, MAN-CHEUNG requests SHING-FU to defeat and kill both YING-FUNG and AU-KUEN.

SHING-FU's neck is bleeding suddenly during the contest. YING-FUNG and AU-KUEN try to help him. TAK-LI enters the venue by disguising herself. When SHING-FU returns to the rest room, TAK-LI tries to console him but she overhears that MAN-CHEUNG wants him to kill others. FA MAN wants to get the money she won but MAN-CHEUNG refuses to pay her. When MAN-CHEUNG tries to attack FA MAN, CHUN-MEI suddenly arrives. The welfare association is established successfully. All villagers join hand together to safeguard the place and kick away the people from the fellow association. CHUN-MEI's night club is opened. MAN-CHEUNG and Opium KAM try to check it out. CHUN-MEI learns that the welfare association is established and they refuse to pay protection money. He says that the welfare association is growing strong because there is no leader in the fellow association. He suggests that the one who eliminate the welfare association will be the leader. MAN-CHEUNG and Opium KAM agree.

When Opium KAM leaves the opium club, he discovers many bats in the sky. He finds it suspicious and he tries to check out the opium but they are gone. TAK-LI arrives at AU-KUEN's home to help SIU-SUN with his studies. Everybody treats her differently after learning that she is the daughter of MAN-CHEUNG. The opium is out of stock. the opium addicts are fighting with each other and someone is even killed. When BO-FUNG delivers the fruits, she discovers opium inside the box. Opium KAM and his people arrive at that time. SHING-FU is requested to watch TAK-LI but he leaves to rescue BO-FUNG immediately after learning that Opium KAM is harming her. TAK-LI feels that she is being monitored and she tries to hide away but she meets Opium KAM and his people. TAK-LI is captured by them. Everybody says that it is not good for the welfare association to get involved in the matter but AU-KUEN and BO-FUNG decide to rescue her.

AU-KUEN is injured and TIU LAN takes care of him. TIU LAN learns that AU-KUEN wants to do something for TAK-LI and she brings him to teach the students voluntarily. FA MAN meets YING-FUNG at the night club. YING-FUNG tries to test FA MAN and learns that she knows kungfu. FA MAN wants YING-FUNG to help stealing the opium and eliminate CHUN-MEI. She reveals her background to him as well. YING-FUNG sneaks into the night club to look for CHUN-ME's criminal evidences but he is captured by them. The opium are gone and CHUN-MEI is enraged. He asks his people to carry out a search. AU-KUEN doesn't want MAN-CHEUNG to discover it and he swallows the opium on the floor. He is poisoned and he collapses afterwards.

TAK-LI is missing. Opium KAM requests MAN-CHEUNG to send him the opium in exchange for TAK-LI. MAN-CHEUNG asks his people to buy all the opium in town. TAK-LI is chased by Opium KAM's people and she arrives at the mountain. She is being discovered but SHING-FU arrives to rescue her on time. However, SHING-FU is injured by gunshot and he collapses. BO-FUNG and TAK-LI bring SHING-FU to a hiding place and they try to wait for the dawn. AU-KUEN leaves the hospital and he learns that MAN-CHEUNG is raising money to rescue TAK-LI and he plans to give him the opium he stole so that MAN-CHEUNG will not harm the innocent people. However, YING-FUNG objects the idea. MAN-CHEUNG fails to raise enough money and AU-KUEN suddenly arrives to say that he is keeping all the opium. MAN-CHEUNG is willing to pay 5000 dollars to the one who kills Opium KAM. CHUN-MEI learns about it and he is very interested. People say that Opium KAM has died and everybody is overjoyed. MAN-CHEUNG and CHUN-MEI discuss that they will divide Opium KAM's territory equally.

MAN-CHEUNG discovers that TAK-LI wants to go to the walled city and he sends SHING-FU to protect her. They arrive at the walled city and TAK-LI tries to make a mess at the casino. MAN-CHEUNG scolds her but TAK-LI says that she wants to continue MAN-CHEUNG's business by joining the gang. TIU LAN cleans the room and she discovers a pair of new shoes on YING-FUNG's bed. She believes that he wants to send the shoes to her but she later discovers that she is wrong. AU-KUEN doesn't understand why he has fallen in love with TIU LAN and he tries to seek advice from TAK-LIU. TIU LAN asks AU-KUEN to help her so that she could date with YING-FUNG. AU-KUEN is very shocked but he pretends to be fine. MAN-CHEUNG and CHUN-MEI take over Opium KAM's business but somebody attacks them secretly. TAK-LI learns that her father is injured and she rushes to the hospital. TAK-LI stays overnight to wait for MAN-CHEUNG to wake up. SHING-FU reveals his past story with MAN-CHEUNG to her.

AU-KUEN and YING-FUNG start a contest. AU-KUEN is defeated but he doesn't give up. TIU LAN is deeply touched to learn about his feelings for her. YING-FUNG returns to the clinic. He wants ZIT-KEUNG to tell him everything in the past but ZIT-KEUNG rejects him. YING-FUNG prays at CHIU HA's tablet. FA MAN suddenly arrives to question his relationship with CHIU HA. MAN-CHEUNG has recovered and he invites the gangsters to meet up at the restaurant. He says that he decides to quit and he recommends CHUN-MEI to take the leader position. MAN-CHEUNG changes the casino into a restaurant but everybody doesn't believe that he will leave the gang. ZIT-KEUNG suddenly receives a blood letter during dinner. The sender wrote that he wants to take revenge on him for a past case of injustice. MAN-CHEUNG's restaurant is opened. CHUN-MEI's people keep messing around there but SHING-FU tries to bear it for he doesn't want to have further conflicts. CHING-MIU tries to look for AU-KUEN in the walled city but she is brought to the casino.

After learning that CHING-MIU wants to go to the welfare association, FA MAN brings her there. CHING-MIU wants to have a haircut at TIU LAN's salon. TIU LAN and FA MAN fight with each other and CHING-MIU is embroiled in the matter. AU-KUEN is overjoyed and shocked to see CHING-MIU. CHUN-MEI wants to get rid of the people in the welfare association. FA MAN suggests to make everybody an addicted gambler. CHING-MIU discovers that TIU LAN is treating YING-FUNG nicely during dinner and she asks if they are interested in each other in front of everybody. Somebody commits suicide with family members after failing to repay the debts to CHUN-MEI. AU-KUEN and YING-FUNG try to persuade everybody to stop gambling at the casino but they are being scolded. AU-KUEN and YING-FUNG ask MAN-CHEUNG to persuade CHUN-MEI to let go of the villagers but MAN-CHEUNG refuses to do so. KO YEUNG owes CHUN-MEI a large sum of money. All ladies ask CHUN-MEI to let them go. CHUN-MEI says that they have to do something for him and the 4 Golden Flowers agree. However, CHUN-MEI actually wants them to kill AU-KUEN and YING-FUNG.

The 4 Golden Flowers thank TIU LAN for taking care of them during dinner and TIU LAN is touched. WONG FA-TSEUK reveals carelessly that this is their last dinner and everybody is shocked. TIU LAN discovers the letter they left behind and she goes to find them immediately. WOO NI tries to poison CHUN-MEI alone. The other 3 sisters try to be the one responsible for poisoning CHUN-MEI as well but CHUN-MEI's subordinate discovers it. CHUN-MEI asks all debtors to meet him. He says that they are not required to repay their debts if they can kill YING-FUNG and AU-KUEN. AU-KUEN returns to the welfare association and he discovers that YING-FUNG is attacked by the villagers. The villages throw powders at his eyes and he fails to see anything while being attacked by them. BO-FUNG brings everybody to the grocery but CHUN-MEI and the villagers arrive to attack them. TIU LAN decides to kill CHUN-MEI alone but she has got a heart attack suddenly and her medicines are finished already.

TIU LAN has disappeared and everybody fails to find her. FA MAN tells YING-FUNG that she fails to find TIU LAN at CHUN-MEI's dungeon. CHUN-MEI will be gambling with AU-KUEN and YING-FUNG soon. MAN-CHEUNG says that he has left the gang and he stops SHING-FU from participating in it. CHUN-MEI sets the rules and FA MAN distributes the cards. YING-FUNG and AU-KUEN lose one round. CHUN-MEI asks YING-FUNG to beat AU-KUEN. He threatens him to beat him with full strength by showing them the seriously injured TIU LAN. After several rounds, AU-KUEN and YING-FUNG are seriously injured already. AU-KUEN doesn't want the game to last for so long and he suggests to decide the winner in one game. TAK-LI arrives at the welfare association and she discovers that many people are injured. AU-KUEN is seriously injured and the doctor says that his life is at risk. YING-FUNG fails to see FA MAN after the gamble. He worries that CHUN-MEI has captured her and he tries to look for her.

TIU LAN leaves and AU-KUEN tries hard to look for her. In order to post search notices, he tries to earn money by taking two jobs at the same time. AU-KUEN tidies up TIU LAN's room and he discovers that she has marked down WAI-YAM's worship date. He therefore visits WAI-YAM's grave with sacrificial offering. AU-KUEN watches movie at the cinema. He is too tired and he falls asleep. When he wakes up, he discovers TIU LAN. TIU LAN returns home. AU-KUEN says that he will protect her if somebody arrives to attack her. TIU LAN is touched. ZIT-KEUNG receives a blood letter again and he is frightened. YING-FUNG returns but ZIT-KEUNG goes mad for he thinks that this is TUNG-TIN. ZIT-KEUNG goes to the night club to look for FA MAN. When he wakes up in the morning, he discovers bloodstains on both FA MAN and his bodies. AU-KUEN and TIU LAN celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival together. They discover that TIU LAN's old friend KIT-LUN is beaten up by somebody.

TIU LAN recalls her past memory with KIT-LUN. AU-KUEN discovers KIT-LUN's tattoo and he questions TIU LAN. He says that this is related to the death of his father. On Mid-Autumn Festival, MAN-CHEUNG returns home alone and somebody attacks him. MAN-CHEUNG recognizes that this person is using Chiu Style Baji and he is the successor of MENG-SHAN. MAN-CHEUNG tells SHING-FU and SHING-FU wonders if this person is from the welfare association. MAN-CHEUNG visits FA MAN in the early morning. He wants to invite the sexy dance team of the night club to perform at his restaurant and FA MAN agrees. YING-FUNG learns about the real identity of AU-KUEN and FA MAN. He is ashamed for he used to believe in ZIT-KEUNG and he has wronged the CHIU's family. TAK-LI discovers that MAN-CHEUNG is lost in thoughts and she questions him. MAN-CHEUNG reveals his past conflicts with CHIU MENG-SHAN to her.
