So after losing his wife, he decides to make a documentary disproving the supernatural by deliberately inviting occult practitioners to perform rituals on him. The Possession of Michael King then asks the obvious question: what if something actually answers?
For Insidious fans looking for another demonic possession movie, the setup should feel comfortably uncomfortable, but Michael's skepticism gives the story its own nasty little hook. Watching someone actively challenge the supernatural to prove itself is fun right up until the supernatural appears to say, “Gladly.”
Grave Encounters
If a supposedly haunted building offers you the opportunity to lock yourself inside overnight, perhaps decline. The paranormal-investigation crew in Grave Encounters does not decline. Instead, they enter an abandoned psychiatric hospital looking for footage and discover the building is both extremely haunted and apparently uninterested in letting them leave.
What starts with ghost-hunting-show confidence gradually becomes full panic as the hospital stops behaving like a normal place. Doors, hallways, time itself? Suddenly none of it can be trusted. Fans of the Further and its nightmare logic should feel right at home, unfortunately.
Hell House LLC
A Halloween attraction is supposed to pretend to be haunted. Important distinction. Hell House LLC looks back at the opening night of the Abaddon Hotel haunted house, where 15 people died, using recovered footage to piece together what happened as the crew prepared the attraction. The Pact
