Tom Lister Jr. makes Deebo feel larger than the block itself. He is funny because he is so fully serious, the kind of presence who changes the temperature of a scene before he even says much.

Why Watch It
Friday works because it knows the size of its world and fills every corner with personality. The jokes feel lived in, the timing is sharp, and the whole movie has the energy of hanging outside when you meant to run one quick errand and somehow lost the entire day.
It is also a perfect cast movie. Craig, Smokey, Debbie, Deebo, Mr. Jones, and the rest of the block each bring their own flavor, which is why the film keeps finding new laughs without ever needing to leave the neighborhood.
