Ready or Not Takes “Till Death Do Us Part” a Little Too Seriously on Tubi

Samara Weaving marries into money, meets the in-laws, and discovers the family tradition involves considerably more murder than advertised. Ready or Not arrives on Tubi October 1.

Remind Me

Meeting your new in-laws can be stressful. Grace would probably take an awkward dinner and several invasive questions at this point.

Starting October 1 on Tubi, wedding night means a trip to the sprawling estate of the extremely wealthy Le Domas family, where Ready or Not gives newlywed Grace one final requirement before she's officially welcomed into the family: play a game. She draws hide-and-seek. Cute! Except her new relatives start choosing weapons.

What begins as one very strange family ritual quickly turns the mansion into Grace's personal survival course. Secret passages, antique weapons, increasingly desperate relatives, and one increasingly destroyed wedding dress all enter the equation while Grace learns exactly how far the Le Domas family will go to protect its traditions. The richer the night gets, the more ridiculous the whole arrangement becomes, and Ready or Not knows that's part of the appeal.

Filmmakers Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett let the horror and comedy feed each other rather than asking one to step aside. Grace can be genuinely terrified one minute and staring at her new relatives like they're the stupidest people alive the next, giving Samara Weaving plenty of room to make her fight for survival bloody, funny, and extremely satisfying. And with Weaving returning as Grace in this year's Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, October 1 is a particularly good excuse to go back to the wedding night that started her very complicated relationship with family game night.

It's exactly the kind of horror-comedy chaos at home inside Terror on Tubi, where your spooky-season watchlist can keep making increasingly questionable decisions long after Grace starts regretting hers.

Ready or not, October 1 is coming.

The Cast

Samara Weaving

Weaving makes Grace easy to root for because she never turns her into an untouchable action hero once the hunting begins. She's terrified, furious, exhausted, and increasingly done with the family she married into, with Weaving letting every scream, laugh, and look of disbelief make Grace's transformation from hopeful bride to determined survivor feel wonderfully earned. It's exactly the kind of performance that earns Grace a place inside Tubi's Final Girl Energy collection, where surviving the night is only part of the assignment.

Adam Brody

Brody gives Daniel the weary detachment of someone who's spent his entire life understanding exactly how dysfunctional his family is. His dry humor keeps the character entertaining, but Brody also lets enough discomfort slip through to make Daniel one of the harder Le Domas relatives to immediately figure out.

Mark O’Brien

O’Brien brings Alex an anxious sincerity that helps explain why Grace believes marrying him could mean finding the family she's always wanted. Once the game begins, that affection gets tangled up with Alex's lifelong connection to the Le Domas clan, giving O'Brien room to make loyalty itself increasingly uncomfortable.

Henry Czerny

Czerny goes in the opposite direction as patriarch Tony, whose commitment to family tradition comes with very little interest in pretending any of this is normal. Czerny's intensity makes Tony feel like a man who has spent years accepting the rules without questioning them, which becomes significantly less reassuring once those rules require hunting his new daughter-in-law through the house.

Andie MacDowell

MacDowell makes Becky unnervingly welcoming at first, giving the Le Domas matriarch enough polished warmth to make Grace's new family seem almost normal. Watching that composure coexist with the family's much darker traditions gives MacDowell a deliciously sinister edge without requiring Becky to behave like an obvious villain from the moment she enters the room.

“Welcome to the family. Try to make it through the night.”
