YA Romance Was Always Supernatural. The Twilight Franchise Just Committed.

Sparkly vampires, impossible crushes, and the kind of romance that made “Team Edward or Team Jacob?” a personality test.

Before situationships, we had Edward Cullen staring across the cafeteria like he could hear your internal monologue and honestly, he probably could. Twilight understood something YA romance has always known: when you’re young, every relationship already feels supernatural in scale. A crush is not a crush. It is destiny. A breakup is not a breakup. It is lying in the woods in a hoodie while your personality leaves your body.

That is why the Twilight franchise still has such a hold on us. Across five movies, Bella Swan goes from the new girl in Forks crushing on the suspiciously pale guy in biology to being at the center of vampires, werewolves, the Volturi, and one of YA pop culture’s most committed love triangles. And somehow, between all that lore, we also got the blue tint, the baseball scene, Team Edward vs. Team Jacob and the immortal “where have you been, loca?” Consider this your excuse to revisit the entire Twilight Franchise on Tubi, one deeply dramatic supernatural relationship milestone at a time. SPOILERS AHEAD!

Twilight

Bella Swan moves to Forks, meets Edward Cullen in biology class and immediately unlocks the kind of eye contact that changes a person’s entire blood pressure. Twilight is where the Twilight franchise begins, introducing the rainy small town, the mysterious vampire, the cafeteria staring, and the baseball scene that deserved its own trophy.

Supernatural teen yearning gets its blueprint here. Every look feels illegal. Every pause lasts 300 years. Edward says things like “you’re my own personal brand of heroin,” and somehow an entire generation said, “Honestly? Romantic.” The Twilight franchise would get bigger, stranger, and considerably more complicated from here, but this is where the obsession started.

The Twilight Saga: New Moon

New Moon takes the Twilight franchise from impossible first love straight into catastrophic first heartbreak. Edward decides the best way to protect Bella is to vanish dramatically, leaving her to stare out a window for multiple seasons like heartbreak is a full-time job. Enter Jacob, motorcycles and the era-defining question: Team Edward or Team Jacob?

Consider it the breakup album of the saga. It has werewolf warmth, vampire absence and the deeply teen experience of thinking one person leaving means your whole life is over. It’s also where the Twilight franchise’s iconic love triangle really takes over, giving fans a team to choose and approximately zero reason to remain calm about it. Subtle? No. Effective? Unfortunately, yes.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse

By Eclipse, Bella is juggling vampire danger, werewolf tension, and two boys who both believe they are the obvious correct answer. There is an army of newborn vampires coming, but somehow the Twilight franchise’s Edward-Bella-Jacob love triangle still finds time to be the loudest thing in the room.

Romantic chaos rarely comes with this many supernatural scheduling conflicts. Edward is brooding. Jacob is not reading the room. Bella is making choices. Everyone is cold, emotionally or literally. If you came to the Twilight franchise for Team Edward vs. Team Jacob, Eclipse is basically your championship game.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1

Wedding. Honeymoon. Vampire pregnancy. A deeply stressful amount of chess. Breaking Dawn - Part 1 takes the Twilight saga central romance to its most dramatic place yet, because apparently marrying an immortal was not already enough plot for one movie.

The saga fully says, “You thought first love was intense? Cute.” It is swoony, strange, chaotic, and committed to making every milestone feel like it needs medical supervision and a family meeting. Four movies into the Twilight franchise, Bella and Edward are finally together. Peace naturally lasts approximately five minutes.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2

Breaking Dawn - Part 2 brings the Twilight franchise to its grand finale with vampire Bella, baby Renesmee, a gathering of international vampires and one of the most memorable fake-out battles in YA movie history. Five movies of lore have accumulated, and the finale arrives fully prepared to unload all of it.

At last, Bella gets to be the most powerful person in the room. Powers are revealed. Alliances are formed. Everyone looks dramatic in coats. After years of longing, breakups, and questionable decisions, that feels like growth. The Twilight franchise started with Bella walking nervously into a Forks biology class and ends with her literally showing Edward inside her mind. Say what you will, but that's a character arc.
