A former swordsman turned poor ronin is hired to exorcise a "demonic" white cat, but finds himself facing an unexpected, innocent creature.

Kyutaro's umbrellas are ruined again by Tamanojo. Seeking advice, he learns the cat needs play, but a couple offers to buy Tamanojo for two ryo.

Kyutaro takes Tamanojo for a walk, splits firewood, and visits a cat cafe. Afterward, they find Wakana's stall vandalized.

Kyutaro seeks a new job, but when old rivals appear, he's led to a confrontation with Tachibana, Takeshita, and Naito on the town's outskirts.

Kyutaro deceives Sakichi, then escapes with Wakana and Tamanojo. They hide, considering returning the cat, but fear for their lives.

Kyutaro agrees to lose a match for Naito's sake, while Sakichi returns the cat jar, breaking the seal and releasing its contents.
