S02:E04 - Defense

When the biggest malpractice lawyer in the country, known for only ever losing one case – against Charlie Harris – ends up in the Hope Zee E.R., Alex takes on the unwanted and daunting task of operating on him. He’s a shark of a lawyer and on top of his game, so when complications arise while in surgery and Alex is forced to stop operating on him midway through, Charlie and Joel step in and work with Alex in an elaborate surgery to try to save his life – and stay out of court. Charlie pulls through for everyone when the lawyer turns up as a Spirit and Charlie's able to gain some crucial information to save him. Meanwhile, in the E.R. Zach also has to deal with an unwanted patient – his ex-wife’s new husband. At first, he refuses to treat him, but it isn’t long before Zach has to put his feelings aside and treat him, and in doing so is able to let go and finally move on to the next chapter in his life. Likewise, Alex crosses paths with The Great Randall, the hypnotist from Season 1 – when he’s admitted to the ward with pancreatitis, allowing Alex to finally give him a piece of her mind, as Randall in turn gives Charlie some heavy advice.
