Zero Hour 2 – Capturing Saddam reconstructs the final hour of the raid leading to the capture of Saddam Hussein, the Iraqi dictator reviled and feared crimes committed against his people; the mass poisoning of Kurds; torture and executions in his macabre prisons; the invasion of Kuwait; and the brutal suppression of the Shia uprising in 1991. This is the story of the downfall of a dictator, as told by Samir, who had been one of thousands of young Shia Muslims driven into exile after the 1991 Gulf War. Acting as a translator for a US special-forces unit, Samir was instrumental in the capture of Saddam. This is his first full-length television interview about the events of the night of December 13, 2003, when Saddam was discovered in a small hole in the grounds of a near derelict farmhouse. Edge-of-your-seat re-enactments, as well as detailed interviews with Samir and US military commanders, offer televisions’ first inside look at the final hour of “Operation Red Dawn,” the codename for the plan to capture Saddam.
