Polly is pleased when Elizabeth’s anger is channeled into writing a letter for the school newspaper. When Elizabeth wants the students to protest by wearing boxer shorts, Mac vehemently disagrees with her philosophy. It is apparent that Mac prescribes to the theory that rules are necessary, otherwise anarchy will reign. The next day, Elizabeth tells Polly and Mac that Miss Shields, the faculty advisor, refused to accept her article for the school paper. Instead, Miss Shields has requested a meeting with Elizabeth’s parents.
