The women catch sight of a man in the distance, and when they go to investigate the two groups finally meet. But as a vicious tropical storm rolls in, the thunder and lightning have a devastating effect on amputee and war veteran Hannah.

Marooned for ten days, the islanders now face starvation. They battle dangerous ocean currents to set fishing nets. Rob develops a tooth abscess, and endures primitive surgery on the beach. And flickers of romance begin

After Patrick's fall, the rest of the group face a terrifying ordeal trying to escape the oncoming sea. Back in camp, the men have been dominating hunting so far - but Tilly decides to venture into the jungle in search of prey.

The Islanders are barely managing to survive and some of the men's bodies are starting to fail them. The women continue to look for food and Simon leads a hunt into the jungle for the most dangerous predator on the island: the caiman crocodile.
