Detective Superintendent Mark Birch had to take decide to escalate a missing person case to a murder investigation just before Christmas in 2006. As the investigation unfolded a picture emerged of a brutal vengeance crime committed brothers on their brother. Culminating with video footage as one of the murderers takes the police into the woods to show them where the body has been buried.

The ensuing manhunt becomes an international media circus as he is leading the hunt for one of Britain’s most notorious serial killers.

Investigating two women’s bodies found in canals in GB and Holland eleven years apart. Meanwhile the suspect was already in prison for the violent attack on another woman, and was due to be released.
