Today is the anniversary of the day Cathy gave birth to a stillborn baby. Cathy and Ed's grief is private so much so they can't even talk to each other about it.

Cathy and Ed attend Mary's funeral. The event gives them a chance to talk about their own grief over the baby. They are reconciled. Back at the clinic, confusion reigns while the doctors are away.
