Nazi Hunters

German scientists worked for the Nazi regime, creating a V2 ballistic missile. When the war ended, the US was desperate to get its hands on the scientists before the Russians did.

Martin Bormann was vital to Hitler. Bormann made Hitler and the Third Reich rich through thinly veiled extortion schemes such as The Hitler Endowment Fund of German Industry.

Joachim Peiper and his vicious bunch of SS thugs marched US 285th Field Artillery Observation Battalion into a field near Malmedy in January 1945 and shot them.

Franz Stangl was responsible for the extermination of around 900,000 men, women and children. He escaped to Italy where he joined a ‘rat-line’. From there, he disappeared.

Speer’s crimes included using and organising slave labour in death camps and prolonging the war by his fanatical work to develop the Nazi war machine.

Joseph Mengele who experimented on adults and children in the Auschwitz death camps was a prime target and was, for many years, the world’s most wanted criminal.

After the war, a Jewish group called the Avengers were horrified by the known Nazis who were allowed to resume their normal lives. They decided to hunt these Nazis down.

Reinhard Heydrich was one of the main architects of the Holocaust. He chaired the infamous Wandsee conference – which approved the deportation of the Jews to extermination camps.

Adolf Eichmann was the SS officer charged with the Final Solution, the man charged with transporting the Jews to the Nazi extermination camps.

Klaus Barbie was head of the Gestapo in Lyon, France in WW2. His job was to crush French resistance and his barbarity earned him the nickname Butcher of Lyon.

As it was not possible to try Hitler for crimes against humanity at Nuremberg the prosecutors turned to the next best thing; his deputy, Hermann Goering.

Heinrich Himmler was a street fighter who took control of one of Hitler’s most feared terror machines – the ‘Einsatzgruppen’.
