S04:E09 - Shattered

In the first half of a two-part episode chaos strikes Hope Zion when a bombing rocks a local charity run. Unsure of the motives behind the attack Hope Zion’s Doctors don’t even have enough time to process their own doctors caught in the race before jumping in to treat the mass of casualties. With blood supplies running low, Alex and Bishop are given priority to treat a young man suffering from blast lung. But when it’s revealed their patient is the bomber, Alex must battle an angry mob as well as her own conscience to provide the care her patient needs. In the ward, Maggie, still dazed from the blast, jumps right in to provide care for an injured pregnant patient. Tensions rise when suspected infection leads to a return from Dr. Sydney Katz and a premature delivery of the baby to save both its and its mother’s life, but not before Maggie succumbs to her own injuries, collapsing in the lab where no one can find her. Meanwhile, Kris lures a cell phone-less Charlie to meet another Doctor who can communicate with the dead.
