The House of the Rochevilles

Victor de Rocheville and his friend Fabio, the son of a servant, go through, after the carefree nature of a protected childhood, the hazards and vicissitudes of existence.

Mathilde is torn between her mother's desire for revenge and her love for Fabio. She loses herself in her professional activity and in the arms of Jacques, an influential and unscrupulous notable.

The war destroys the unity of the Rochevilles. While Charles collaborates with the occupier and pays himself with the money and property of the deported Jews, Fabio and Sylvana join the resistance.
