Madame Amalia is a ruthless business woman with evil plans and a lot of plastic surgery. She is determined to take over every inch of Evertown and turn it into a concrete jungle, and that means taking over the last piece of green in the city: Spikersfield College. Armand, the president of the college, and Grace, a professor, intend to resist Amalia's attempts at control every step of the way. But with Madame Amalia's evil scheming, that might be much harder - and more dangerous - than expected.

Luther has found Armand's last will and testament, unexpectedly saving the college from Madame Amalia's bulldozers...for now. It was Armand's wish that the heir to his estate be decided by a women's volleyball match, in honor of the Six Virtues of Olympia. Spikersfield College just might have a fighting chance, but first they need a coach. Meanwhile, Madame Amalia hatches her own scheme to win the tournament.

Coach Lucky needs to pull a team together. The girls at Spikersfield College aren't very interested at first, but with some help Lucky finally has his all-star roster. But for the new girl Jo, training while working and taking care of her family is a challenge. Meanwhile, Madame Amalia welcomes her team of hired world-champions, The Black Roses, to her mansion, and she expects only the best. Luther is working with an unknown helper to secretively help the Spikerfield girls. Grace tries to teach them about the seven attributes of the goddesses, only to realize that something very important is missing,

As the training for both teams gets tougher, tensions between the players start to rise. Johanna and Patty butt heads when Lucky sends the girls on a team building scavenger hunt. Beth teaches Susan how to put more effort into her training, while Beth tries to show her how to relax. Lucky gives the girls a lesson on how to set. Meanwhile, Luther's secretive plan starts to unfold, as the missing Jewels of the Olympic Torch play an essential role in Spike Team's training.

With the tournament about to begin, questions start to arise about whether the amateur Spike Team will be able to compete against some of the best volleyball teams in the world. However, the girls are more worried about getting a proper uniform. Patty asks Grace about the Olympic Torch in order to understand the shining objects that she's seen. When Opening Day kicks off the tournament, the girls have to stand up against tough competition.

Patty has discovered one of the Jewels from the Olympic Torch. If the Legend of the Six Virtues is true, this gem could help them win the tournament. Luther's mysterious partners wants to teach the girls the Value of Equilibrium, but Luther thinks they need a setter. Meanwhile, the Roses's training becomes intense after Madame Amalia gets tough on Coach. Mark stands up to Justin when he starts to cause too much trouble for the girls. Coach Max erupts at Lucky when he catches the Roses practicing and playing with the Spike Team.

After being confronted by Coach Max, Lucky feels insecure about helping the Spike Team. The girls may have won their practice game against the Roses, but even Luther say that they are far from being ready for the tournament. Grace helps the Team learn more about the Six Virtues of Sport. Meanwhile, Madame Amalia promises the Roses a chance to become fashion models for her new line of athletic clothes...but only if they win the tournament.

The girls and Lucky feel discouraged by their publicized loss to the Roses, but Luther and the coaching assistants encourage Spike Team. The mysterious man in the underground lair has a plan that will help Susan find the confidence she needs to become a great setter. While the Spikersfield girls continue to improve, Madame Amalia will do whatever it takes to make sure that her team wins and that she will take control of the college. Also, Julio gets a new bike in hopes of beating Justin in a race, but it might get him in trouble.

It's time for the first game of the Alea Cup and everyone is nervous. Some of the girls on the Spike Team believe that the Jewels from the Olympic Torch will help them win the tournament, but Grace reminds them that the most important thing is to work hard and believe in their own abilities. Victoria is not only facing pressure from the game, but from her father as well. Lucky reviews the fundamentals of the game during practice. Coach Max pushes the Roses to beat Spike Team. Madame Amalia is desperate to impress some very important fans at the game. And, something terrible has happened at Vito's.

Vito is devastated after Madame Amalia sabotaged his pizza stand, but with Spike Team won't let him give up. The group works together to help Vito, building strength and confidence along the way. The boys celebrate with a surfing competition. When she sees the team's progress, Madame is furious. Off the court, Victoria needs to win her equestrian competition in order to please her father, but her horse is injured. And back at the college, Grace is concerned about the tournament and the school's worsening money problems. Luther and his mysterious partner focus on how to help Victoria reach their potential. Ann Mary wants Beth to help her win over Mark, while Grace and Coach Max share a romantic dinner together.

Victoria's father wants her to be the equestrian champion of Evertown, putting her in the difficult position of choosing between appeasing his wishes or following her passion for volleyball and Spike Team. Grace teaches the girls about the Olympic Virtue of Loyalty. While Luther's plan continues to take shape, Madame Amalia may have discovered a clue about the legend of the Olympic Torch. Grace shares her fears about the future of the college, but Lucky challenges her loyalty to the Team after her date with Coach Max.

Lucky and Vito ask the girls to vote on who will be team captain, but making a decision proves difficult. Lucky encourages Victoria to talk to her father, but she is still reluctant. Madame Amalia and her henchmen dig up information on the Olympic Torch, and a video presented by Armand Alea reveals that it may be a source of inspiration for Spike Team. As a result, Amalia decides she must steal the Torch in order to sabotage the team from Spikersfield. And, Patty visits Jo's home before a practice session of parkour training. In the underground lair, Luther and his partner develop their plan and the mysterious man reveals his identity.

Madame Amalia sends her henchman to Spikersfield College to steal the Olympic Torch, but the situation gets spooky when they start to believe that ghosts might be involved. Armand, who is alive and has been working to help Spike Team from his underground hiding spot, won't let them get away with it. After Victoria finds the third jewel of Loyalty, Grace is starting to become convinced that the legend of the of the Torch might be true. Armand realizes that Madame Amalia has weaknesses, and he and Luther decide that it is time for one of the girls to earn the gemstone of Perseverance. Lucky's fears that Grace doesn't believe him start to effect him during practice, causing conflict that makes the spying Amalia believe that her plan is working. Meanwhile, Grace gives the team a different kind of training by teaching them an ancient Mayan game and a lesson in one of the virtues. And, Vito decides that Lucky needs some training of his own.

The girls are struggling to remain a cohesive team, as some of them do not demonstrate enough commitment. The conflict plays right into Madame Amalia's plan, as does Grace's doubts about the school's participation in the tournament. While Grace contemplates forfeiting, Coach Max helps Amalia in her scheme to make sure that she abandons any hope that the Spike Team and the college will succeed. And, with the Spikes teammates turning against one another, Luther and Armand decide that Ann Mary must be the one to discover the Jewel of Perseverance. Julio takes Ann Mary on an eye-opening motorcycle ride, but Jo still doesn't believe that she has what it takes on the court. The girls aren't united, and are challenged during their match against Team Best. Will Ann Mary finally step up, and will the girls learn to trust her?

The girls train for a comeback after their second loss when Lucky uses the aggressive principles of rugby to improve their volleyball. Back at the college, Grace makes a shocking discovery about Armand, and his secret plan is revealed. Madame Amalia believes that she has succeeded in her scheme to take over Spikersfield. Lucky wants to reward the girls' hard work with a trip to a rock concert, but getting into the venue takes some creativity and persistence. The girls enjoy a night of fun, but their happiness turns to grief when they receive some terrible.

Spike Team and the students and teachers of Spikersfield College fear that their efforts have been in vain, after Amalia takes over the bank and stops all loans to the school. But Lucky won't let the gang give up hope just yet. The whole city comes together to support the college at a charity fair. Meanwhile, Armand reaches out to some old friends for help. The Spike Team's optimism throws Amalia into a fury, and she plans a media campaign to spread negativity instead. Ann Mary tries to do her part. Amalia has a realization about Jo's identity.

As part of her latest plot to bulldoze Spikersfield, Madame Amalia angles to win Jo's trust and forces her to choose between a prosperous future and Spike Team. Lucky gets the girls ready for the next game by teaching them about The Wall. The third game of the tournament tests Jo's loyalty while the girls face the Roses once again. Ann Mary confronts Jo after a few suspiciously bad hits, and finds another of the mysterious Olympic Torch Jewels.

With Ann Mary's Jewel of Perseverance restored to its place in the Olympic Torch, there are only two stones left--Strength, and Courage. Armand and Luther must decide whether Jo or Beth will be next to receive a a Jewel, while Jo faces the wrath of Madame Amalia at work. After being assigned a long list of unfair chores that will keep her away from practice, Jo quits her job at the beauty salon. The problem is, no one in town will hire her. Off the court, Julio finds himself in trouble after entering an underground motorcycle race, and Madame Amalia targets Jo's home and family members.

Rumors of cheating have cast a shadow on the next game between Spike Team and Team Best. But, after finding a suspicious clue, Justin chooses to do the right thing and try to clear the Spikers' name. Back at Spikersfield, Luther, Armand, and Grace plan a party between all the tournament competitors while Lucky and the girls continue to train. After a dance-party-practice, Beth finds courage both on and off the court. While the teams enjoy the celebration at Spikerfield, Armand and Luther execute their own plan to undermine Madame Amalia.
