Proof is found that there used to be an alien intelligence observing the Earth from the Ring.

A new Ring is detected but vanishes before it is intercepted. Then, one of the crew is found unconscious.

A space shuttle from the 21st century is found drifting. The 3 astronauts on board are also from old times.

The final battle starts as each one holds their own feelings. Shaft against Shaft, Hiroto against Sergei.
