After Nick Vallance’s architectural business went bust he decided to make a completely fresh start. So he and his wife Lesley and ther two sons left behind the safe Surrey suburbs and headed to Spain to take on the biggest challenge of their lives. They converted a 400 year old Andalucian bishop’s palace and turned it into an eight bedroom designer hotel and family home. So how have they been getting on since the cameras left them
T01:C02 - S01:E02 - Suffolk
Adrian and Denise Nuttal and their two young children were fed up with Adrian always working away from home. So they gambled everything on buying a run down garden centre, barn and farmhouse set on 11 acres of beautiful Suffolk countryside and turned it into a chilli farm, shop and restaurant. We’ve come back to see if the gamble has paid off.
T01:C03 - S01:E03 - Norfolk Water Tower
David Forster and his family moved from a busy road in Lowestoft to a stunning Victorian water tower in the middle of the Norfolk countryside. We return to find out what life is like in their fairy tale home and discover that David is now embarking on building a second tower and also has plans to renovate a nearby Victorian viaduct into another family dwelling!
T01:C04 - S01:E04 - France
Jason and Phillippa had only known each other for 11 months when they abandoned high powered, lucrative careers in the oil industry in Aberdeen to transform the Chateau de Charly in France’s Loire Valley into a luxurious five star B and B and home for life. Since we left, the Chateau has had its first season of guests and they’ve now got a new addition to the family – baby Verity - born a few weeks ago!
T01:C05 - S01:E05 - Norfolk Barn
Steve Kinsey from Stoke had two jobs for 15 years as a fireman and a tiler. This left no time to spend with his wife Lorraine and their two boys, Jack (10) and Kurt (7). So with relations reaching crisis point they decided to radically change their lives and move to the Norfolk coast and convert an amazing 300 year old barn with an acre of land. We return to see if their relationship and family life have improved.
T01:C06 - S01:E06 - Wales
Rebecca and David Palfrey, moved from Birmingham to Wales to fulfil their dream of living in the countryside. They gave up their safe teaching jobs and converted a derelict stable block into a four bedroom family home. We return to find out how they are enjoying country life and whether it’s been worth it.
T01:C07 - S01:E07 - Scotland
Executive businesswoman, Carol and her interior designer husband, Shaun, had had enough of working long hours in Buckinghamshire and never seeing their daughter Beth. So they moved to Scotland and renovated a 120 year old farmhouse in Dumfries. We go back to see how they are settling into their new lives and see their plans for converting their outbuildings into holiday lets.
