T05:C01 - S05:E01 - Doctor Destiny

Following the bang of last season’s finale, Alex (Erica Durance) finds Charlie (Michael Shanks) winged by a bullet, which makes his proposal a little difficult. While Alex agrees to marry Charlie, the celebrations are cut short when a caterer named Grace (Masa Lisdek) collapses, unknowingly caught in the crossfire. At Hope Zion, Grace’s mother arrives to give Alex a stern warning: her daughter is cursed and it’s all her fault. She asks Alex for a priest, so Grace can have her last rights, but all Alex can find is the pious interventional radiologist Dr. Manny Palmer (Jared Joseph). Together, the two work fast to save Grace’s life. Meanwhile, the bullet lodged in Charlie’s arm may not have killed him but may kill his surgical career, threatening his ability to operate. Making matters worse, Spirit Grace appears too accepting of her own death and only Charlie can remind her that life is worth living. As news of the shooting spreads, Dana (Wendy Crewson) comes in to lend a hand but ends up consulting on a case with Cassie (Kim Shaw). The two meet Doctor Destiny (Kevin McGarry), a male stripper with a displaced butt implant. Although eager to dismiss the peeler, the two doctors discover there may be more to his injuries than just the butt.
