T05:C04 - S05:E04 - A Stranger Comes to Town

Alex (Erica Durance) and Charlie (Michael Shanks) are moving on from their break-up, the best way they know how. Alex has bought a motorcycle, and Charlie is throwing himself into work, starting with a lonely historical re-enactor who was thrown off the horse that bit him. While Charlie saves his patient’s arm and helps him reach out to make a friend, Alex discovers Manny (Jared Joseph) is going off-site to help a teenage runaway. Alex, letting her wild side come out, throws off work and goes with him, where they find that the young girl is gravely injured. Alex and Manny bring her back to the hospital, where they must operate on the girl secretly to keep her out of the system. Dawn (Michelle Nolden) inevitably discovers their surgery, and when she interrogates Alex, the cracks begin to show in Alex’s façade, and she admits that she is feeling lost and confused. Billy Scott (Greg Calderone) has arrived at Hope Zion, an old nemesis of Dev’s (Dejan Loyola) from medical school. After they fight, to the detriment of their work, they make an uneasy truce while struggling to revive a patient who has been frozen solid, all while being closely observed by Thomas Leffering (Joe Dinicol.) In the evening, Charlie relaxes over dinner with his friends and Luke, and Alex invites Manny to hop on her motorcycle and watch the sunset.
