As Alexander the Great was perplexed by the legendary Gordian Knot, so is X-15 test pilot, Jim Darcy (Dewey Martin), challenged by a different kind of unsolvable problem. Crashing his jet into the desert floor at the exact moment that his wife (Mary Murphy) rams her car into a boulder, both are hurled into a different dimension mere seconds into the future.
