Today in the Repair Shop, Jay Blades and the team bring three treasured family heirlooms, and the memories they hold, back to life.First through the barn doors today is Claus the Bear, accompanied by his owner Wendla Kernig. The two have been through a lot over nearly nine decades together and now Claus needs the help of soft toy specialist Amanda Middleditch and Julie Tatchell. When she was nearly three years old Wendla chose Claus as a present in a Berlin toyshop in 1934, not long after she found herself hiding with Claus under a quilt as the Gestapo searched for her father – an agent working against Hitler. Then Claus was very nearly lost forever during the family's eventful escape to England to begin a new life. Wendla is hugely attached to this fine old bear but he's showing his age - His fur is worn, his joints are stiff, and his growler is silent. Amanda and Julie set to work sprucing him up so that he can be returned looking tip top and in good voice once more.Dominic Chinea and Suzie Fletcher team up to get an antique set of golf clubs ready for a round. The clubs and bag belong to Murray Winters, who coveted them for most of his childhood and dreams playing with them alongside his two sons. They were once Murray's grandfather's pride and joy but after decades of lying dormant in a shed they're currently in no state to grace the green. While Dom tackles the rusty clubs, Suzie takes on the tattered bag.Next mother and daughter, Carol Short and Debbie Scrivins, have come to call on horologist Steve Fletcher, with a large wall clock. It originally hung in a school room in rural Sussex and came into the family's possession nearly a hundred years ago, when Carol's great grandfather bought the schoolhouse – clock and all. He diligently wound it for years and passed it down to his son and then granddaughter. For years the clock's deep tick accompanied family life and special events until the clock stopped abruptly and ticked no more, now Carol and Debbie hopes rest on Steve being able to nurse it back to life.
