Colorado is the home to one the best preserved archeological sites in the U.S. known as Mesa Verde National Park. Aside from the beautiful juniper woodlands, the park is best known for its human history. Mesa Verde protects all original pueblos, pit houses, kivas, cliff dwellings, and mercenary towers that have been built by stone-age people or "Ancestral Puebloans."
