To William Howell there were good women, and bad. Bad women included the drug addicted prostitutes he picked up in his van. They ended up buried in shallow graves in a place he called his "Garden". The extent of his sadistic crimes were revealed when he boasted of them to a cellmate.
S01:E04 - Douglas Perry
Douglas Perry was obsessed with prostitutes; he craved their company, but he also hated them, and in 1990 he shot three sex workers dead. Years later a cold case review identified Douglas as the killer. By this time, Doug had become Donna- and she accepted no responsibility for his actions.

Boxer Shaun "the governor" Cummins was a big name in his hometown. When he was paralysed in an accident, Thomas Dunkley, an amateur fighter, became Shaun's friend and defacto carer. Shaun promised to make him rich, but when the payday never came, Dunkley took what he thought was rightfully his.

Paul Novak loved the fast-paced life of a New York paramedic. Unlike his wife Catherine, who craved tranquility. When the family moved upstate, Paul kept his job. He found a flat in the city - and a girlfriend. After Catherine discovered the affair, Paul persuaded a colleague to help him kill her.

When Iain and Sally Lawrence got together he thought she would bring him wealth and status. She was a successful businesswoman, he was a pilot. But before long, he lost his job. Their relationship crumbled. Desperate for the payout he felt he deserved, Iain vowed their divorce would never be finalised.
S01:E10 - Kelly Cochran
Kelly Cochran helped her husband Jason kill her lover Chris, after Jason invoked a wedding night pact that anyone who came between them must die. Detectives suspected foul play, but they could prove nothing. But Kelly never got over Chris's death, and a year later she murdered Jason too.
