Race to Space

Family drama set in 1960s America, starring James Woods and Annabeth Gish. Devastated after the death of his wife, Dr. Wilhelm von Huber moves to Cape Canaveral with his 12-year-old son, Billy. Although his father is a top scientist at NASA, Billy thinks he is too traditional and dull. He dreams of being an astronaut and visiting space like his idol Alan Shephard. After learning of Billy’s fascination with astrology, Dr. Donni McGuiness, the Director of Veterinary Sciences and his father’s colleague, invites him to work at NASA on an extremely important project. Billy has to help train the chimpanzees to ensure that they are ready to man a craft into space. Billy is thrilled to be part of the team and forms a close bond with Mac, the chimp chosen to complete the mission. However, as the mission draws closer, Billy worries for the safety of Mac, especially as a rogue officer at NASA tries to sabotage it.
