Have you ever wondered what it takes to get the pints into our pubs? it’s a gigantic job, but we get an access all areas pass to see every process and person who battles to get you your beer. From the landlord in Devon, the wine loader in Mansfield and the warehouse worker in Wolverhampton to the father and son delivery team in Exeter, this is some serious alco-haulage. Us Brits love beer and spend 17 billion quid on it a year. That means a great deal of beer needs to be brewed! This time the challenge falls to brewing and fermenting operative Mark Sheridan, he has a gigantic job on his hands as he moves 50,000 litres from the copper boilers to the fermenting vessels, through a massive maze of pipes, one false move and the entire batch could be ruined. We meet beer barons Simon Bradley and Chris Platt, the men who keep the Burton Union in full flow. This slice of British brewing heritage dating back to the 1830’s is a unique brewing system, but when a power outage strikes, there is nothing they can do but watch their beautifully brewed beer pour down the drain. And we’re back with Graham Benford, 'the man who can', but with four drivers off sick and forty three thousand pints of ale needing collection from the Hook Norton Brewery to be bottled back in Burton, can he step up to the plate and save the day?
