Marianne looks forward to having her labour induced, thinking that this way she'll be in control of when the baby arrives. Tim invents the term "dather" to describe his role as donor-father. Jocelyne's labour comes on hard and fast and despite her plans to manage the pain better than she did for the birth of her first child. Ethan is born after a labour Tim describes as "quick and loud." Tsuki, frustrated at having no time to herself, arranges for a few days away from her family during the last month of her pregnancy.
