Paramedics Gage and DeSoto (Randolph Mantooth and Kevin Tighe) rescue an elderly man and woman from an elevator disaster and Dr. Brackett (Robert Fuller) berates a student nurse who goofs during a crisis. Gage and DeSoto bring the elevator victims to Rampart. Student nurse Sharon Walters forgets to take notes and ruins the EKG tape. Nurse McCall (Julie London) defends the girl. Meanwhile, Gage is in a dilemma over a girl who constantly bothers him. Seymour Cassell plays a garbage-burying hippie.
