Michelin starred chef, Glynn Purnell, and ‘Queen of Irish cookery’ Rachel Allen present a new series of My Kitchen Rules UK. Over a period of 8 weeks, they will be judging 20 pairs of enterprising and inspired amateur cooks from all over the UK who open their own home restaurant for one ambitious night, in a bid to scoop the £10,000 prize and the right to say, ‘My Kitchen Rules.’ My Kitchen Rules UK is about real people with a real passion for food. In the first four weeks of the competition, Rachel and Glynn visited a different region of the UK - the North, South, Midlands/Wales & Scotland. In each week, five teams of two cooked a three-course restaurant standard meal against the clock for their rival teams and the judges to critique and score. The 15 strongest teams overall went through to the MKR Mansion where, each day for three weeks, a different Guest Judge revealed a mystery ingredient from which the day’s competing team had to create an outstanding main course, followed by a delicious dessert. At the end of the Mansion Round, the 7 lowest scoring teams were eliminated, leaving the 8 remaining teams to go through to the MKR Headquarters for the Final rounds of the competition. Finals Week – Chateau Impney in Worcestershire, set in acres of stunning landscaped grounds is the setting for MKR Headquarters. In the first of two Semi Finals, two teams must create a three-course Indian inspired menu that will impress today’s Guest Judge, Glasgow based Tony Singh as well as MKR Judges, Glynn and Rachel. The winning team will go through to the Grand Final.
