Tubi Error Codes

Seeing an error code on Tubi? The last number in your error code tells you what went wrong. Find your error type below for steps to fix it.

Errors ending in -100: Failed to Load Content

This is the most common error type. It means Tubi couldn't load the content you selected — usually due to a connection issue between your device and our servers.

Common examples: FTV-4-100, SA-4-100, SA-2-100, VIZ-4-100, ATV-4-100, XB-4-100, LGTV-4-100, HIS-4-100, PS4-1-100

Try these steps in order:

  1. Close and reopen Tubi (force-close the app completely)
  2. Restart your device — turn it fully off, wait 30 seconds, turn it back on
  3. Check your internet connection — try loading another app or website. If nothing loads, restart your router by unplugging it for 30 seconds
  4. Clear the Tubi app cache (see "How to Clear Your App Cache" below)
  5. Uninstall and reinstall Tubi from your device's app store

Special case — RO-2-100-404 (Roku): This means the content is no longer available on Tubi. Titles leave when licensing agreements change. This cannot be fixed by troubleshooting — the title may return in the future.

Special case — RO-2-100-451 (Roku): This means the content is not available in your region due to licensing restrictions. This cannot be resolved by troubleshooting.

Special case — RO-2-100-6 (Roku): This is a DNS error. Restart your router, then try changing your DNS settings to 8.8.8.8 or 1.1.1.1.

Special case — RO-2-100-7 (Roku): Your Roku can't reach Tubi's servers. Check if any firewall, ad blocker, Pi-hole, or VPN is blocking the connection.

Special case — RO-2-100-35 (Roku): SSL/TLS connection error. An incorrect date/time on your Roku is a common cause — check your settings.

Errors ending in -200: Couldn't Start Video Player

This means Tubi's video player couldn't start up properly. This is uncommon but can happen on most devices (except Roku, which does not produce -200 errors).

Try these steps:

  1. Close and reopen Tubi
  2. Restart your device
  3. Clear the Tubi app cache (see below)
  4. Update the Tubi app to the latest version
  5. Uninstall and reinstall Tubi
Errors ending in -201: Video Playback Error

The video started but ran into a problem during playback. This can be caused by a weak connection, a temporary glitch, or a content protection issue.

Common examples: SA-3-201, FTV-3-201, ATV-3-201, LGTV-3-201, RO-3-201, VIZ-3-201, XB-3-201, HIS-3-201

Try these steps:

  1. Try playing the content again — sometimes a one-time glitch resolves itself
  2. Check your internet connection — try moving closer to your router or switching to a wired (Ethernet) connection
  3. Restart your device
  4. Clear the Tubi app cache (see below)
  5. Update the Tubi app to the latest version

Apple TV users seeing ATV-3-201: This is almost always related to Live TV playback. Switch to a different channel and back. If it continues, restart your Apple TV.

Roku users seeing RO-3-201-4 or RO-3-201-6: On Roku, these are DRM (content protection) errors. Try a different HDMI cable, a different HDMI port, and remove any splitters or adapters between your Roku and TV. If connecting through an A/V receiver, try connecting directly to the TV.

Roku users seeing RO-3-201-8: This indicates an unsupported media format. Try updating your Roku software (Settings > System > Software Update) and reinstalling Tubi. If it happens on all titles, a factory reset may be needed.

Samsung users seeing SA-3-201: This means your network dropped during playback. Check your connection stability and try a wired (Ethernet) connection if possible.

Vizio users seeing VIZ-3-201: Usually buffer-related. Update your Vizio TV firmware first, then restart the TV.

Errors ending in -202: HDCP / HDMI Connection Error

This error means there's a problem with the HDCP (copy protection) handshake between your streaming device and your TV. It only affects devices connected via HDMI cable.

Try these steps:

  1. Unplug and reconnect your HDMI cable at both ends
  2. Try a different HDMI port on your TV
  3. Try a different HDMI cable — older or damaged cables can cause HDCP issues
  4. Restart both your streaming device and your TV
  5. If you're using an HDMI splitter, receiver, or soundbar between your device and TV, try connecting directly to the TV
Errors ending in -203: DRM (Digital Rights) Error

DRM (Digital Rights Management) protects licensed content. A -203 error means your device had trouble verifying its DRM license, which prevents the video from playing.

Common example: SA-3-203

Try these steps:

  1. Restart your device
  2. Update the Tubi app to the latest version
  3. Update your device's firmware/software to the latest version
  4. Uninstall and reinstall Tubi

Samsung TVs from 2016 or earlier: These TVs do not support the DRM technology required to play certain content on Tubi. This is a hardware limitation that cannot be fixed with an update. You'll need to use a different device — such as a Roku, Fire TV Stick, game console, phone, tablet, or computer at tubi.tv.

Rooted or modified Android devices: If your Android device has been rooted or modified, DRM-protected content will not play on Tubi. This is a security requirement from content providers and there is no workaround. You'll need to use an unmodified device.

Errors ending in -300: You're Offline

Your device isn't connected to the internet, or the connection dropped. Tubi requires an active internet connection to stream.

Try these steps:

  1. Check that your device is connected to Wi-Fi or Ethernet
  2. Restart your router/modem — unplug it for 30 seconds, then plug it back in
  3. Move closer to your Wi-Fi router or reduce interference from other devices
  4. Restart your streaming device

Roku users: Verify your connection at Settings > Network > Check Connection > OK.

Your Samsung TV lost its network connection.

Try these steps:

  1. Check your internet connection — try opening another app to confirm it's working
  2. Restart your Samsung TV

    2. Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data to test
