Augustus: The First Emperor
Following the death of his best friend, and son-in-law Marcus Agrippa, Caesar Augustus (Peter O'Toole) begins to tell the story to his daughter Julia (Vittoria Belvedere) of his friendship with Agrippa, and his rise to becoming the first Emperor of Rome. Following Caesar's assassination Augustus begins manipulating events, and people around him to gain power, and control of Rome. While his daughter and others see his actions as those of a tyrant, Augustus always defends his actions as for the good of Rome. While telling the story, Augustus' rule is coming into question as different factions including former enemies, and even his own wife vie for control of Rome.
