Galina's wife comes to Valery, a staff member of the newspaper and a freelance employee of state security agencies. Felix accuses his father of shooting hundreds of innocent people. In the London pub Shnyrev shows Felix provocative photos of his wife, taken by Valery during a meeting with a German. He assures Felix that Katya has been cheating on him for a long time and that everyone knows about it. Upset, Felix gets very drunk and asks for political asylum in the UK. Sister Kati Luba throws her husband. Lyuba blames Katya in everything. The neighbors in the village are turning away from the Panovs, because the Panovs are relatives of a traitor to their homeland.
